JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Career Bound Manager

Reports To: Director of Teen Development

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Primary Function:

The Career Bound Manager is responsible for working with the Teen Development Program team to implement and manage the new Career Bound Program, which will add critical program components to help teen members prepare to pursue post-secondary education.

Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):

·  Oversee the implementation of the Career Bound Program at the Belle Glade Teen Center, Max M. Fisher, Marjorie S. Fisher and Florence De George Clubs

·  Train Teen Coordinators in all aspects of the Career Bound program, inclusive of intensive career exploration; Development of a Personalized Application Plan for each teen based on career interests and current academic standing; SAT/ACT preparation; Essay writing instruction and coaching; Tutoring; Completion/Submission of college applications; FAFSA preparation; College tours and summer employment

·  Hire and manage two Tutors to provide individualized and/or group tutoring for

members who are struggling in core subject areas and who need assistance with course selection

·  Conduct introductory financial planning sessions with teens and their parents and/or guardians to foster an awareness of the financial realities of college tuition

·  Present FAFSA training for teens and families, or engage consultant with this expertise.

·  Track scholarship opportunities and present these to teens

·  Arrange and serve as chaperone for a two-day, State-wide college tour

·  Work with School District to expedite collection of report cards at the end of grading

·  Periods

·  Maintain a system of internal evaluation including individual student records, report card grades, attendance and progress

·  Participate in local collective impact efforts related to this work, such as Achieve Palm Beach County and Birth to 22—United for Brighter Futures, and stay apprised of next steps and funding opportunities

Skills/Knowledge Required:

·  BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to education

·  Strong knowledge of post-secondary education application process

·  Possession of Florida Teaching Certificate desired

·  Knowledge of Palm Beach County high school education system and related resources

·  Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop & implement programs, including overseeing staff

·  Understanding of and commitment to outcome measurement

·  Experience working with at-risk youth

·  A strong personal commitment to BGCPBC’s mission and vision

·  Energetic collaborator skilled in building and facilitating relationships with BGCPBC staff, external staff, external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in mission advancement.

·  Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal

·  Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail

Relationships:

·  Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

·  External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools external staff and volunteers, donors and others to recruit or to assist in resolving challenges.
