MINISTRY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 WHO WE ARE

Young Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry to high school and middle school youth. We offer a variety of programming, but the overall goal is consistent: to build genuine friendships between teenagers and caring adults for the purpose of helping kids safely journey through adolescence and grow in their faith.

 High School Young Life Ministries

We recruit, train, and mobilize teams of adult volunteers to reach out to kids on their “turf,” at school events and in the community for the purpose of building genuine, unconditional friendships. Kids that want a deeper discussion about matters of life and faith can join a Small Group (Campaigners), where consistent mentoring relationships with adult volunteers are more formally established.

 Capernaum Ministry to Kids with Special Needs

Capernaum is our ministry for high school students with special needs (ages 9th grade-transition). It is very similar to our typical Young Life but, at Capernaum, leaders are trained to best meet each student’s needs to ensure they have a safe and fun time at events! Activities are also adjusted to create an atmosphere where everyone can participate and have a great time.

The three most visible elements of our programming are Club, Campaigners, and Camping. Here’s a brief description of each:

 Club: A low-pressure, event-filled large group gathering, typically held on Monday nights (Friday nights for Capernaum), that involves singing, humor, fun activities, and a short message on how life and faith intersect.

 Campaigners (small groups): Small groups are where leaders regularly meet with teenagers who choose to attend, for deeper discussions about life and faith.

 Camping: At camp, students are provided the opportunity to experience God’s beauty, participate in amazing activities (like parasailing and zip-lining) and hear how they are loved by Jesus. Our goal as an area is to make sure every student who wants to attend camp has the opportunity to do so! Camp is expensive which is why we created the bowl-a-thon to help send students to camp.
