Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups

Technical & Production Rider

Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups is a 50 minute long show with no interval.

A journey into the world of AnimaLand, where beatbox, rap and graffiti come together. This immersive, high-energy performance features spokenword artist Maxwell Golden and graffiti artist Mr Dane. Set within a purpose-built graffiti installation, an original children’s book is brought to life and interwoven with freestyle hip-hop improvisation.

The Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups need the audiences help as they navigate AnimaLand – so audience beatboxing and participation is all part of the fun.

1. Staging

1.1 The Space

The size of the performance space is adaptable but must be a minimum of:

11 meters (d) x 15 meters (w)

If your space is smaller please contact the company to talk about the options, as this will effect audience capacity.

We require a sprung or semi sprung dance floor with black vinyl dance floor (e.g Harlequin or Marley).

There is no audience seating, audience members are encouraged to stand, sit & explore the space.

1.2 Staging

The show needs a black box, so black floor, black back drop (flat black or curtain) and legs in. No tabs are used.

1.3 Set

The set is made up of 9 x 3.5m fence panels. These panels are ordered via SafeSite Ltd and sent and collected directly to/from the venue. Please know that the panels can only be delivered and collected on a working weekday.

The venue will need to agree to the following within our contract – with no contras:

·  Accept delivery of the fences the working weekday before the get in, keeping them in a safe space in the theatre (1m x 3.5m space required);

·  Help the load and unload of the fences and feet from the lorry;

·  Have the fences in the theatre ready for the Get In at the start of the Get In day/time. Any delay in this might cause a delay in starting the show due to the reduced Get In time; and

·  Keep the fences in the venue until the following working weekday after the show for collection.

Without this assistance we will not be able to bring the show to your venue.

We will send the delivery information to the technical manager at your venue once we have contracted the performance with the producer. This will include:

·  Delivery date and time*

·  Collection date and time*

* please know this is up to a 6hr window of AM or PM within working hrs.

Your producer and technical manager will be listed as the onsite contacts for the fences. Please if you wanted to add anyone to this please let the producer know at the point of booking.

The order you will receive is:

10 x 3.5m Heras fencing (Square Top)

5 x Back Stabilisers

15 x Rubber Feet

6 x Fence Couplers

This will take up 1m x 3.5m of space in your venues during the short storage period.

1.3 House Curtain

Not used.

The venue will need to be stripped.

1.4 Working Temperature

The company requires the stage, dressing rooms and other backstage areas to be heated to a minimum of 21C for the entire duration of the performers stay.

We require 1 x Dressing room for 2 x male performers

2. Lighting

A venue specific lighting plan will be provided upon consultation of the venues lighting stock.

2.2 Control

The company tour two Macbook Pro’s- one to run ETC Nomad software for lighting and the other to run Qlab for sound playback. Qlab additionall triggers all of the LX cues via MIDI.

Four 13a sockets are required to run the toured control set-up.

Lighting: We require one line of DMX, universe one to our Nomad.

Sound: we require 2x XLR’s (house left & right) to our soundcard.

In the case that the in-house lighting console be any of the following in the ETC family- Gio, Eos or Ion- we will run our .esf showfile from your console and MIDI directly to our Mac, running Qlab. As such, the MIDI channel on the lighting desk will need to be set to ‘MIDI show channel 1/device ID 1’

Lighting and sound is operated by the Production Manager. The control position must be large enough to facilitate the two Macbook Pro’s (placed directly next to each other) and a little additional space for a clipboard! There must be a clear view to the stage from the control position.

2.3 Pre-Rig

Due to the extreme time constraints of the get in, a lighting pre-rig should be carried out where possible. Ideally to hang, power, flash out and create a patch/plan from the company’s venue specific plan in advance of the company’s arrival.

It would be most helpful if a scan/photo of the patch/LX plan could be sent to the Production Manager on the eve of the get-in, as we will patch the showfile ahead of the get-in, to speed things up.

We will tour and need to rig on the day:

2 x Stairville MH-x200 Pro Spot Moving Head:

Dimensions: 495 x 422 x 482 mm, weight: 20.5 kg, 215w

·  Venue PA and sound equipment set up.

4.1 General schedule and crew call

The company tours with 2x technician who will direct the lighting & sound setup, get-in and focus. The Production Manager will also operate lights and sound during the performance.
