Key Accounts
The Nebraska Lottery for the most part defines Key Accounts as corporate accounts with common ownership having multiple locations. Most Key Accounts are chained by a common “chain” number in which all of their banking and financial reporting activity is processed under a common headquarters location and bank account. A few Key Accounts have common corporate ownership yet prefer to run each location independently for their banking and reporting needs so their locations do not have a “chain” number. There are also a few common ownership retailers with multiple locations in Nebraska who are not considered Key Accounts. Reasons why they may not be considered a Key Account include low sales volume, little if any cooperation with the Lottery and our programs or each store may be ran independently.
While only about 50% of our retailers are part of a Key Account, these accounts generate 70-75% or more of all our sales. Many of these accounts have specific Point of Sale Plans or policies on premiums and promotions. Key Accounts are in some aspects handled differently than the rest of our retailer network. The Key Accounts Manager from the Lottery works closely with Key Accounts’ Corporate Offices. While a Lottery Sales Representative still calls on each individual store once every two weeks, the Key Account Managers keep in contact with personnel at the corporate office to work on or implement sales, promotions, policies, Point of Sale, equipment, new games and other items for their stores.
