THIS SPECIAL MEETING HAS BEEN CALLED FOR THE PURPOSE OF AWARDING THE BID FOR THE EMERGENCY DEMOLITION OF THE COLLAPSED BUILDING AT 623 MONONGAHELA AVENUE, GLASSPORT, PA 15045. THE MEETING IS BEING CALLED TO ORDER BY DAVID KOWALSKI, PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

ROLL CALL: Bradley, present; Kudla, absent; Norelli, present; Skiba, present; Trunzo, present; Wojton, Absent; Kowalski, present; Mayor Bradley, absent.

EMERGENCY DEMOLITION – 623 MONONGAHELA AVENUE, GLASSPORT

The bid opening date was March 18, 2015, at the Twin Rivers Council of Governments and the results were as follows:

  1. JADELL MINNIFIELD CONSTRUCTION No Bid
  2. LUTTERMAN EXCAVATING Sealed Bid Bid Bond 10% $49,500.00
  3. R & B CONTRACTING Sealed Bid Bid Bond 10% $44,000.00
  4. JASKOLSKI DEMOLITION SERVICE Sealed Bid No Bid Bond $33,200.00 Rejected

*Need a motion to award to the lowest responsible bidder as recommended by Senate Engineering, Inc., with all the required documents submitted in the sealed proposal.

Motion: Bradley seconded by Skiba

*To award the emergency demolition bid to R & B Contracting & Excavation, Inc., 4821 Buttermilk Hollow Road, West Mifflin, PA 15122 for the total bid amount of $44,000.00.

Motion Carried.

*Need a motion for the Borough to commit to the difference of $9,000.00 plus engineering and solicitor fees for the emergency demolition. Allegheny County has approved $35,000 in emergency funding for this demolition.

Motion: Bradley seconded by Trunzo

*For the Borough to commit to the $9,000 share towards the emergency demolition plus engineering and solicitor fees.

Motion Carried.

*Need a motion to authorize the President of Council and Secretary to execute the contracts.

Motion: Norelli seconded by Skiba

*To authorize the President of Council and Borough Secretary to execute the contracts in regards to the emergency demolition of 623 Monongahela Avenue, Glassport.

Motion Carried.

REMARKS:

*Tom Bradley, Vice President of Council, stated that 82 ADA ramps were bid on and awarded and there are a total of 49 done so far. They are not going to take the six to eight weeks to finish this job. Would like to add on more ramps to the contract (approximately 50 more).

Motion: Skiba seconded by Trunzo

*To add more ADA ramps to the contract. KLH will make an entire new list. There will be approximately 50 more ADA ramps added to the contract.
