Listed below are guidelines and suggestions for creating and placing your scarecrow.

YOU MUST HAVE AN ASSIGNED LOCATION BEFORE PLACING YOUR SCARECROW

  • Be as creative with your theme as would like! However keep in mind your scarecrow will be visible to the public and people of all ages. The goal is to have a family friendly and fun activity for everyone to participate and see. Sexuality, profanity, political or overly graphic displays are not permitted. The Borough will remove any scarecrow deemed offensive.
  • Your scarecrow will be out in the elements for up to 3-4 weeks. Construction of your scarecrow should be durable to withstand wind and rain. Suggestions include a 2x4 frame, chicken wire or foam.
  • All accessories must be securely attached to the scarecrow so they are not found all over our town and streets.
  • Scarecrow placements will be assigned when you register. Locations will be on a first come first serve basis. Concentration areas will include the two traffic lights in town, in front of businesses and around borough hall.
  • Scarecrows should include a sign that states the business/family/group name and the title of your creation. Signs can be made out of laminated paper, wood or anything that will hold up. Number will be placed on each Scarecrow to define them.
  • Each scarecrow should be safe to walk by - accessories must not extend in such a way as to be hazardous to pedestrians or parked cars.
  • All scarecrows must be attached to a lamp post/pole by zip ties or twine, no tape, wire, or anything that could damage the lamp post in anyway.
  • It is the responsibility of the scarecrow owner to remove it by November 5th, or it will be discarded.
