Latest employment figures for Cheltenham

In January 2009 Cheltenham has 1647 claimants for unemployment benefit, and over the last six months, the borough has seen an increase of 3.1% in unemployment rate.
The largest demographic out of work is the 20-24 age group, which may indicate that graduates from the University of Gloucestershire and college leavers are struggling to find new employment. However, claimants aged 25-34 has actually decreased compared to ten years ago. These figures would suggest that the most vulnerable demographic in Cheltenham is the younger population who are seeking careers for the first time.
