Bookings NOW OPENfor the National OCT Conference 2017

Topcon GB Ltd are delighted to announce that this year’s National OCT Conference bookings are now open. Held at the Hilton London Paddington for the first time, the National OCT Conference is set to welcome in excess of 300 delegates over the 19th and 20th November.

Up until now, bookings have only been open to those who have previously registered their interest, giving them priority access to booking, as well as taking advantage of the early bird discount fee. From the 1st September, theconference fee is £225+VAT plus £25.00 for each workshop and peer discussion.

Based on attending 7 lectures and 2 workshops, optometrists can gain a total of 13 CET points. There are alsoCETpoints for CLOs and DOs over the two days.

There will be lectures from a multitude of internationally acclaimed speakers, such as Professor Donald Hood, Dr Konstantinos Balaskas, Professor Christine Purslow, Professor David Henson, Professor Sunil Shah, Professor Chris Hammond and Professor Paulo Stangato name but a few. Topics range from structural OCT and OCTA in the diagnosis of Wet AMD; impact of the tear film on ocular imaging; and examining AMD using OCT – insights from a macular clinic optometrist.

The programme offers a large choice of skills and discussion workshops from Assessing the Vitreoretinal Interface with OCT, to Advanced Detection and Monitoring of Glaucoma, and from Scleral Lens Fitting with OCT, Scanning for Success, to the future of OCT Angiography in Primary Eyecare.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss clinical OCT cases with their peers and experienced facilitators. Mr Nigel Davies, Medical Retinal Consultant, from St Thomas’ Hospital, and Dr Scott Mackie, from Mackie Opticians will be amongst the lead facilitators in these sessions.

Workshop and peer discussions always book up fast, so be quick to avoid disappointment.

Evening entertainment on Sunday 19th November will include an inspiring talk by Professor Sunil Shah who will give a detailed account of his journey to discovery in Cambodia; Could you make 500 blind people see in one week?Refractive error, cataracts and pterygiums - all common problems and easy to solve, but not in a country with barely any eye care professionals.

And finally, the evening is to be rounded off with a fun, but educational twist on a well-known quiz show: Fib or Fact? – Tails of the unexpected, withCatharine Chisholm, Simon Berry and Ben Turley. Which of the two teams can convince you that they have correctly interpreted the clinical data and diagnosed the condition correctly? Will the patient's vision allow them to attend their weekly book club, or would they be better suited to a zoo? Vote for the person who provides the most plausible explanation but beware - someone is fibbing!
