Y / ADN/001 MANAGEMENT
The Code Enforcement Section of the Fire Prevention Services Division is comprised of an Assistant Fire Marshal, a Fire Protection Specialist, clerical staff and Fire Inspectors. The responsibilities of the office are to enforce the Oklahoma City Fire Code; assist in the enforcement or enforce certain sections of the Oklahoma City Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Property Management Codes; provide staff support to the Oklahoma City Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Board of Appeals and the Board of Governors for Day Care Centers; provide for the safety of the public from fire and other disasters through the promotion of inspections and planning to ensure for fire safe conditions during public events and at other locations open to the public. / C

OPS/004ASSISTANCE TO OTHER DIVISIONS AND AGENCIES

OPS/004.1RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES

When Inspectors and/or the Fire Protection Specialist are requested to respond, to emergency situations, to ensure accountability and best use of resources, they shall report first to the staging area if established or to the Incident Commander. Inspectors and the Fire Protection Specialist shall utilize full protective clothing, operate in a safe manner at and within the Incident Management System at all scenes. Code 3 response shall be authorized only by the Fire Chief.

OPS/004.2WATER SUPPLY OFFICER

The Fire Protection Specialist shall respond on all multiple alarm fires and report to the Incident Commander to assist in water supply, sprinkler and fire alarm evaluation, and any other assistance he/she can offer.

OPS/004.3ASSISTING WITH TRAINING

Inspectors and/or the Fire Protection Specialist may be assigned temporarily to assist in training exercises that are conducted by other city agencies, state and federal agencies, other fire departments and other fire department divisions as long at the normal operations of the work section are not impeded.

OPS/004.4PUBLIC APPEARANCES

Inspectors and/or the Fire Protection Specialist may be assigned to make public appearances promoting fire prevention, automatic fire suppression systems, fire suppression methods, home safety, and other related subjects to promote fire safety and prevention.

OPS/004.5CONTACT WITH DISTRICT OFFICERS

Inspectors assigned as District Inspectors shall maintain regular contact with their respective District Officers or their Rideout.
