Follow these steps:

1. Read a book with a “mystery” sticker on it. (Mystery books are marked in the library with a purple sticker with a magnifying glass on it or a blue sticker with a “Sherlock Holmes” character on it.) I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING YOUR MYSTERY TO CLASS EVERY DAY TO READ IN SPARE MOMENTS. Don’t miss out on that allowable class time to read!!!

2. Do the following 7tasks:

a.5 Journal Responses: As you read, write responses using your response question sheet to choose the questions. By the time you finish the book, your 5 responses will be done. Voila! Pick a different question for each response. Include your journal question sheet in your folder when you turn in your project.

b.Genre Characteristic Chart: Either while you read or after you finish reading, complete the “genre characteristics chart” for your mystery novel and include it in your folder.

c.Illustration: I will give you a piece of copy paper to use for your illustration. You must use color to receive full credit.

3. Place all your written papers between two pieces of cardstock. (I will give you the cardstock.) The cardstock will be three-holed punched, and will be stapled to hold your papers inside. You may NEATLY decorate the cover of the cardstock as you wish, to represent various genres we will study this year. I will give you a graphic that classifies the different genres. You will use the folder for every book report.

Include the Table of Contents in your folder. Put all items in the correct order. Each element has a maximum value, but the value for each item is dependent on the quality of that item.
