The Summerhill Huskies 4-H club has had a busy couple of months. They had a fun kick off party on October 9 to help get new members to join and let the community know what 4H is about. Flyers were sent to School to invite kids to attend. They painted pumpkins, made slime, and exploding Rockets. They ate donuts office string, had mini golf, bowling, any witch broom race. Plus a bonfire with hotdogs and Smore's. They had a window display in the hardware store window for National 4-H week. At the Club achievement day awards our club won the outstanding animal exhibit trophy. This trophy is for the club that keeps their animals pens clean ,neat ,and have Nice displays. Casey DeVries won the silver project award. At their November meeting all the new members were given info on how to register, & packets about the club and 4H. New officers were elected and our down on the farm fundraiser was discussed. All members donated baked goods to sell. We also voted to give $100 to the Wood and Crase families with sympathy cards for the loss of their sons. Our club also made desserts for the Greg Wood funeral. In December the club decided to give their fundraiser money from the down on the farm craft show to the Hord family who lost their home in a house fire. The club bowling pizza party was set for January 7, 2018 at the uptown lanes in Byron at 3 p.m. The Huskies meet every Second Monday of the month at the Forreston Library at 7 PM.
