Bock Farm Community Meeting

Please join Supervisor Dan Storck for a community presentation about the proposed changes being considered for Bock Farm, located at 2405 Parkers Lane. The meeting will take place Thursday, January 26 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in the Lecture Hall at Walt Whitman Middle School on Parkers Lane.The meeting is for informational purposes only, NO votes, statements or verbal opinions will be solicited, although an opinion survey, which will also be available on our website, will be distributed at the end of the meeting.

The initial Bock Farm application to rezone and develop about 40% of the farm’s 11.4 acres, with no zoning change to the remaining 60%, was considered by area groups during the first half of 2016. A Fairfax County Planning Commission public hearing was held on July 13, 2016 where the application passed unanimously. The Board of Supervisors public hearing was held on Sept 20, 2016, after which Supervisor Storck ultimately deferred a decision on the original application until February 14, 2017 to provide more time to respond to community concerns and consider other options. Since the September meeting, Supervisor Storck has held several meetings with area residents, the Bock family and the developer Joe Francone to answer questions and identify other potential options. Three options are now a possibility:

1. Proceed with the original application for 55+ age senior condominium units in four buildings;

2. Maintain the senior community with slightly fewer units, have 10% lower building heights and modify the building façades; or

3. Eliminate the senior community and build substantially fewer standard townhouses.

While these options are being discussed, no decisions have been made or will be until the Board of Supervisors consideration on February 14.

The agenda for the January 26th meeting is below. If you would like more information on the options, we look forward to your attendance. At the meeting’s conclusion, opinion surveys will be distributed and will be made available on our website. If you are unable to attend, meeting summary information and opinion survey may be picked-up at our office, mailed, emailed or available on our website following the meeting.
