NOMINATIONGUIDELINES

ELIGIBILITY

Nomineesmustbeanindividual,family,group, orbusinesswhosevolunteeractivitiesinWakeCountyhavebenefitedacommunityorcommunitiesinWakeCountyinasubstantial,importantoruniqueway.

Studentsreceivingcoursecreditsfortheirvolunteeractivitiesareineligibleunless thenominationisbaseduponvolunteerservicethatextendsbeyond thecourserequirements,inwhich caseitmustbeclearlyindicatedinthenominationstatement.

Previouswinnersfromwithinthepast10yearsareineligible.Thosewhoreceivedcompensationfortheirserviceareineligible.

Nominationcannotbebaseduponcourt-mandated communityservice.Nominationcannotbe baseduponservingasa“loanedexecutive.”

Self-nominationsarenotpermissible.Nominationscannotcomefrom familymembers.

Groupandbusiness nominationsmustbemadebythoseexternalto thegroupor business.Nominationpaperworksubmissionrequirementsmustbemet.

Allnominationsmustbesubmittedonthe official 2014WakeCountyBoardofCommissioners’AwardforVolunteerServicenominationform.

Thenominationformconsistsoffoursections.Allsections ofthenominationformmustbecompleted.Thenominationformmustbetypedorhandwritten inprint-style.

Nomineeswillbeevaluatedbaseduponthecontentsofthenominationformonly.Pleasedonotinclude additionalmaterialssuchasphotographsandvideos.

RecipientsofAwardsforVolunteer areselectedbasedonmerit–withoutregard to race,religion,gender,national origin,orphysical/mentaldisability.

Selectionis baseduponthe nominee’svolunteerefforts,accomplishments, andimpact.Thenominationshouldreflect ameaningful commitmentoftimeandservicebythenominee.Thenominee’s serviceshouldaddress acommunityneedand/orenhancethequalityoflifeinWakeCountyanddemonstrateactsofgenerosityandkindness.Apanel,underthedirectionof theWakeCountyBoard ofCommissioners,willevaluatethenominationsfortheVolunteerAwards.
