Minutes, June 2, 2014

Meeting Called to order at 12:01 by President Mary McKenzie

President update: Material on web site is to be available to members only- not open to the Public
Suggested that information on open positions on Board be on the site to generate interest on front page. Kitty Mahoney will put a section for Board and Chapters to put in information and will send instructions on how members only will access
Public Health week: 20th Anniversary of Public Health Museum- is in September. Successful event on Brain Injury. Renewal dues are open as of July1, 2014. $75.00 for members, $37.50 for students and retired. If have paid after January 1, 2014 then will be paid as of July 1.
Vice President Amanda Stone is thrilled to be n her new position and will accept her assignment and do her best. We welcome her in this new position
Treasure Report : attached Summary Conference- No speaker fees, due to loss of the Grant from BU School of Public Health those who attended the Leadership and stayed overnight for the Conference were not reimbursed for their rooms- 61 attended the conference, 28 attended the dinner. Motion that job postings be charged $25.00 for 45 days- all in favor- none opposed also MAPHN merchandise be available via Pay Pal that included shipping and handling
Awards Committee: no report Awards at conference were Public Health Nurse of the Year – Terri Khouri, Presidents Award- Elaine Silva
By-Laws-new by- laws will be on the website
Convention Planning- 2015- discussed 50% to be EP- tentative date April 9-10, 2015- Buffet at Conference and looking into Cape Codder as venue- committee will also look into other vendors for the conference beside schools and pharmaceutical .
Education and Practice Committee: -LPHI no more grants for educational programs
Nominations Committee: Terri Khoury presented applications for vacant positions. Results: 1 year position for Director at Large, Mary Goodwin- 2 year Treasurer,-Ruth Mori
OVM- report attached
Research Committee will be dissolved and research will be added to Education & Practice Committee.
CLPH-LSAC- no EP funding for block grant. MAPHN will receive a Preventative Health Grant
Chapters- Cape Cod-Good turnout for their May Meeting- more interest
Southeast-served at food pantry- cooked for over 100 people-

Stand Down- one day- August 22nd – set up at 7:00am- need inventory to be done by Caroline Kinsella and Terri Khoury- class will be held on Thursday and Saturday with clinical on Friday- Osterville is also having a Stand Down
Website – discussion on –Kitty Mahoney has 2 lessons left with Scott-recommended that Kitty receive at least 80- hour stipend- suggested $25/hour-may need contract- also consultant catch a fire- revisit in October-Patti Moran will work on job description
Senior DPH nurse- Glynnis will work with Charlotte for PHN informational sessions
Safe staffing: Statement from MAPHN – remain neutral
Communication: MAPHN- President will answer info @MAPHN- responses will be sent to appropriate committee President will answer and blind copy VP, Board, Carolyn Kinsella
