The Scott County Board of Education met at Great Crossing Office Complex at 6:30 o'clock P.M. on the 12th day of August , 20 14, with the following members present:

Regular Board Meeting

(Meeting #28)

1.  CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair Dr. Roger Ward.

2.  WELCOME: Dr. Ward welcomed everyone.

3.  VISION STATEMENT – Mr. Conway read, “We exist to ensure the best education for every student in Scott County Schools and to create a collaborative culture to ensure student learning”.

4.  APPROVE AGENDA: Mrs. Putty noted two items had been added to this agenda from an earlier viewed draft agenda. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Ms. Sams and seconded by Mr. Conway that the Board approve the agenda with two additional items under Consent Items for Fundraisers.

Motion carried unanimously.

5.  FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Randy Cutright gave a brief overview.

6.  APPROVAL OF CURRENT BILLS: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Ms. Holbert and seconded by Mrs. Fryman that the current bills be paid as listed below.

7.  SPOTLIGHT: Recognize Commonwealth Credit Union’s support of Scott County’s students: Superintendent Putty thanked Commonwealth Credit Union for their continued support. There is a student spotlight featured each week in the local newspaper. This would not be possible without the support of CCU. We are thankful for the opportunity they have provided to highlight students from every school. We hope to continue this special opportunity with CCU. Mrs. Putty presented a plaque to CCU’s local branch manager Kim Durham. We appreciate Commonwealth Credit Union’s support.

12.  CONSENT ITEMS FOR common Carriers: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Ms. Sams and seconded by Mr. Conway that the Board approve Consent Items for Common Carriers A) & B) as submitted.

Motion carried unanimously.

A)  APPROVE COMMON CARRIER REQUEST FOR SCOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the use of common carrier services (Blue Grass Tours) to provide transportation for the Scott County High School Football Team, to and from Paul Dunbar High School in Lexington, KY on August 22, 2014 due to the amount of yellow school buses it would take for transportation, projected temperatures, lack of locker room space, student health, as well as leave and return times.

B)  APPROVE COMMON CARRIER REQUEST FOR SCOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the use of common carrier services (Blue Grass Tours) to provide transportation for the Scott County High School Football Team, to and from Ryle High School in Union, KY on August 29, 2014 due to the amount of yellow school buses it would take for transportation, distance, as well as leave and return times.

13.  CONSENT ITEMS FOR DONATIONS: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Ms. Holbert and seconded by Mr. Conway that the Board approve Consent Items for Donations A) - F) as submitted.

Motion carried unanimously.

A)  APPROVE DONATION TO EASTERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the donation of car tags for parent pick-up students valued at approximately $1000.00 from White Greer & Maggard to the benefit of Eastern Elementary School.

B)  APPROVE DONATION TO SCOTT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION: Recommendation: Board approve the donation $2500.00 from Whitaker Bank to be used towards the purchase of breakfast for Scott County Schools Opening Day.

C)  APPROVE DONATION TO ANNE MASON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the donation from of 800 red folders and 700 agenda books valued at approximately $2000.00 White Greer & Maggard to the benefit of Anne Mason Elementary School.

D)  APPROVE DONATION TO SCOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the donation $2000.00 from Scott Host, LLC (dba Holiday Inn Express) to be used towards the purchase of Scott County High School Softball State Champion rings.

E)  APPROVE DONATION TO SCOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the donation $500.00 from Homes by Anderson Tate to be used towards the purchase of Scott County High School Softball State Champion rings.

F)  APPROVE DONATION TO SCOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the donation of $200.00 from Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky to the benefit of the Scott County High School Softball team.

14.  CONSENT ITEMS FOR FUNDRAISERS: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Mr. Conway and seconded by Mrs. Fryman that the Board approve Consent Items for Fundraisers A) - CC) except for item Q) pull to ratify.

Motion carried unanimously.

There was a motion by Ms. Holbert and seconded by Mr. Conway that the Board ratify item Q) Fundraiser for 9th Grade Cross Country.

Motion carried unanimously.

A)  APPROVE FUNDRAISER FOR NORTHERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the Spring School Picture fundraiser during the FY14-15 school year for the benefit of Northern Elementary School with proceeds to be deposited in the Northern Elementary “District Activity Fund account”.

B)  APPROVE FUNDRAISER FOR NORTHERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the Fall School Picture fundraiser during the FY14-15 school year for the benefit of Northern Elementary School with proceeds to be deposited in the Northern Elementary “District Activity Fund account.”

C)  APPROVE FUNDRAISER FOR NORTHERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the Yearbook fundraiser during the FY14-15 school year for the benefit of Northern Elementary School with proceeds to be deposited in the Northern Elementary “District Activity Fund account.”

D)  APPROVE FUNDRAISER FOR GEORGETOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL: Recommendation: Board approve the Fall & Spring School Picture fundraiser during the FY14-15 school year for the benefit of Georgetown Middle School with proceeds to be deposited in the Georgetown Middle School “District Activity Fund account.”
