Board Games 101“The Most Dangerous Game” Game
You and your group will design a board game based on the plot of “The Most Dangerous Game” that utilizes all pertinent information from the story. A 40 point piece.
DAY 1
Step 1
Quick brainstorming session: Using the piece of paper provided by the teacher, each member should spend a few minutes designing the game the way he/she sees it in the mind’s eye. Be sure to think of all the plot points and the detailed setting descriptions. As you walk through the plot you may wish to consider the shape of the island/game board, the paths different characters may have walked, the ways you could move your pieces in the game, and important places where ‘things’ happened in the story. Consider all the board games you have played in your life and make some decisions.
Step 2
After 15 minutes of individual design, the team should discuss their options, taking some ideas from each member of the group. At this point the team should assign jobs for the evening, focusing specifically on any tasks that need to be completed over the weekend. One team member should be responsible for bringing the poster board. Think about what you are going to need. Plan ahead.
DAY 2
Work as a team. Color. Cut. Paste. Glue. Tape. Design. Create the island of Zaroff’s dreams. As you work out the details and double check the plot to make sure you don’t miss anything important, you will try to finish the game for a presentation.
DAY 3
Each group will set up their game in the front of the room and present. Each member will identify their role in the creation of this game.
Participation Reflection
On the day that you present, you must turn in a one page participation reflection. This should be typed using MLA format. This participation reflection will explain your role in the creation of this game from the very beginning (from brainstorm to presentation). Comment about how your group worked/didn’t work together well. Be specific! Be honest! This will assist with determining your participation score.
Helpful Hints
What elements from the setting should be included in the board design?
How does your game piece move? Is it like the story?
What plot points should be considered as perfect obstacles in your game?
Did you type, proofread and print your directions?
