2017 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Two awards ($1,500 each) are available for students accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program for the Fall 2017 semester. Each scholarship will be awarded based on meeting the requirements listed below. Scholarship awards will be disbursed by October 1, 2017 pending maintained enrollment.

Awards Announced at June 19, 2017 Bloomingdale Civic Association Meeting
Eligibility Requirements:
§ Reside within the District-recognized boundaries of Bloomingdale (see map) and/or be a student or alumni of McKinley High School or Dunbar High School
§ Minimum 2.5 GPA (unweighted) for most recently completed academic year
§ Be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program during the Fall 2017 semester
*Applicants who are members of the Bloomingdale Civic Association (or whose parent or guardian are) at the time of application are eligible for additional points on their application.
Application Requirements:
§ Completed Application Cover Sheet (email for cover sheet)
§ Official school transcripts (high school and/or college, university, or vocational-technical as applicable)
§ Two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a teacher/counselor and one from a non-relative, DC resident)
§ One 300-400 word response (typed or recorded) for each of the following prompts:
1. Your current community service commitment(s)
2. Why you are the most deserving recipient of the scholarship
3. Your vision for college and long-term personal goals.
*Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors including academic achievement, extracurricular and community activity, and financial need. Applicants are encouraged to address these criteria in their application.
