When I first started reading Bertrice Small, I started with the Kadin and Love Wild and Fair. At first I was kinda disappointed to not see a continuation of the series until Just Beyond Tomorrow and Intrigue when we finally learn of Catronia’s and Bothwell’s closure.
But anyway, I read the book Skye O’Malley first and then had to read the other books as I found them in bookstores and libraries. Which meant I was reading them out of order.
So once I had collected all 12 books, I decided to read them once again, from start to finish and keep track of the characters. So let me know if I missed anything or if my dates etc are wrong.

- MURROUGH O’FLAHERTY DOB JAN 15, 1557 at the end of all the sweet tomorrows married to twin sister of Gwyn, Joan Southwood on July 26, 1574 in a double ceremony. Also mentioned in “this heart of mine” that they have several children including twins that were just born in 1585. mentioned in love lost found, name of one son is Geoff.
2. KHALID EL BEY
- FATHER TO WILLOW DOB 4/5/1560, adopted by Robert Small, mentions “meets Alcester at the end of “All the Sweet Tomorrows” & in the beginning of “A Love For All Time,” it says she is married to him. In 1576 she marries James Edwards earl of Alcester. Gives birth to first son in “A love for all time”, no name is given. In this heart of mine pg 25, It refers back to the birth of the son in A love for all time, but this time it mentions the son’s name is Henry and that he was born when Velvet was 5. So that gives the time of birth around 1578. In this heart of mine, it mentions Willow has given birth to Johanna 1590. Wild Jasmine mentions son William is the youngest born around 1595.You really don’t hear anything more about will till you meet her great great grandson. Jamie Edwards, earl of Alcester in Vixens.
3. GEOFFREY SOUTHWOOD DOD 4/10/1566 (skye o’malley book one)
- ROBERT GEOFFREY JAMES HENRY SOUTHWOOD (LYNMOUTH) DOB 9/18/1563 mentioned in the beginning of “this heart of mine” he has married 1. Alison De Grenville in 1584 and they have one child a girl named Elizabeth obviously born in 1585. and another one on the way in Jan 1586 named Catherine and the last Cecily (anne?) Dec 1856, in which Alison died giving birth. On page 35 it mentions that Alison had died. On page 73 of this heart of mine.
In love Lost Found pg 462, mentions that Elizabeth and Catherine have married and that Anne will be married in the summer.
Also in this heart of mine he meets and marries his 2nd wife Angel Christman Aug 7 1588 per page 135, the day after is august 8th. Therefore they were married on Aug 7. The have a son Geoffrey born May 14 1589, and a 2nd son John 1591. According to This Heart of Mine. Page 518. IN LOVE LOST FOUND PG 462, it mentions that in addition to Geoffrey and John they also have Charles 1596, Thomas 1597 and Laura 1600. In the book Intrigue it says that DAD Robert (robin) died the year before the king. And that the eldest son Geoffrey died in 1645, his wife was Penelope Blakeley. Penelope & Geoffrey had a son Robert who married Lady Daphne Rogers. Who had john Southwood Earl of Lynmouth who marries Sabrina Stuart, May 2 1661, child of Charles Frederick Stuart & Bess. See below for details.

IN WILD JASMINE besides James whom they call sandy, (listed previously), it is mentioned that they also have additional sons called Adam Charles, Twins Robert and Henry and little Edward. In Intrigue it is mentioned that Velvet died in 1662.
(In this heart of mine the Catronia and lord Bothwell are included in the story” from the Kadin and Love Wild and fair book.) Alexander Gordon, earl of Broc, also has a child Sybilla born on 2/1/1590 in Wild Jasmine she marries Lord Thomas Henry Kempe 1/26/1607. They have 2 sons, although names are not given in wild Jasmine.
The story continues in Book 5, LOST LOVE FOUND.With the story of Valentina,DOB 3/21/1580. Daughter of Conn & Aidan. Valentina marries First Lord Edward Barrows June 6 1600. He dies 7/1/1600.
SHE MARRIES 2nd PADRAIC (HER COUSIN), SON OF SKYE AND NIAL BURKE BORN 1/30/1569. DOM JAN 1 1603. They have:Elizabeth Born 1604. A boy Adam Niall Burke born 1605. And James. And in Vixen’s it’s mentioned that they have a daughter or possibly a granddaughter named Ceci Burke born 1651?
THE STORY CONTINUES IN BOOK 6, WILD JASMINE.
Jasmine is the daughter of Velvet and Akbar, she was born 8/9/1590. Akbar Died 10/15/1605. age 63.
She marries (1) Jamal Khan, their were no children. (2) Rowan, Marquess of Westleigh on April 13, 1607. They have 2 children, FIRST Lady India Lindley (whose story is told in Bedazzled) and Lord HenryThomasLindley (in besieged he marries Cecily Burke, daughter of Lord Burke of Clearfields, his mothers uncle, she was padraics and valentines youngest daughter.12/31/1634? Who we learn in Autumns story Intrigued that she died in 1635 when she fell from a horse) IN AUTUMNS STORY INTRIGUED, Henry is now married to Rosamund around 1637. Rosamund has 5 kids, Henry,james, Robert 2girls. JASMINE has a girl named THIRDFortune born July 8 1610, who is thought to be Rowan’s final gift to Jasmine, but What only the readers know and skye is that Rory Maguire is her biological dad. But other than Skye’s brief notice of it, I don’t think it’s brought up again UNTIL “Besieged” when Fortune’s story is told. And then JASMINE has her 4th child during her affair with the Prince Henry, this child is a boy who is called Charles Frederick Stuart born Sept 18, 1612. The not so royal Stuart. He marries a girl named Elizabeth Anne( Bess) Lightbody, dau of Earl of welk on May 3, 1639. Children: 1.Frederick, 2.Sabrina,( who marries John Southwood Earl of Lynmouth May 2 1661 3. William (mentioned in the beginning of “Intriqued” Bess dies around 1650-1651.) Also in Intrigued is Sabrina. We also learn much much later in Vixens, that the Barbara Carver (her first husband was Squire Randall Carver) from the Patrick Leslie story “Just Beyond Tomorrow” has become Charles 2nd wife and they have one daughter together Cynara. Cynara’s story is told in Vixens.
This story also talks about Catronia and Lord Bothwell, and the Glenkirks, which ties it into the Love Wild and Fair book. Page 451 also brings into Play Janet Leslie from the Kadin. I would also like to mention here that even though I am not following the Glenkirk Line as part of the O’Malley Line, I did notice the very first mention of the Janet Leslie, Brother Adam and Father Patrick is in Spitfire.
DARLING JASMINE BOOK 7, CONTINUES JASMINE’S STORY. Also continues with some Leslie of Glenkirk information. Here she marries her 3rd James Leslie Earl of Glenkirk on 6/15/1515 & he dies in the beginning of “Intrigued” 9/3/1650. References here also the Love Wild and Fair book. Their son PatrickLeslie (his story is told in “just beyond tomorrow”) was born March 6 1516. And a sonAdam john Leslie (Baron Leslie of Erne Rock)May 14 1617. DUNCAN Leslie (baron Leslie of Dinsmore) & JANET SKYE Leslie born 1623 (in Wild Jasmine) and who died at the age of 2 of measles in 1625, mentioned in Bedazzled. In Besieged Jasmine has her last kid born by surprise in the fall of 1631, OCT 31 Autumn Rose Leslie. Her story is told in “Intrigued”.
The story started in Kadin and continued in Love Wild & Fair, is brought to the front again in Darling Jasmine briefly, which joins both sets of books by joining the O’Malley’s and the Leslies. And finally continued in Bedazzled Book 8.
BEDAZZLED BOOK 8, with the Story of Lady India Lindley the daughter of Jasmine and Rowan, Marquess of Westleigh. Jasmine marries Deverall Leigh aka Caynan Reis and they have two children Rowan 1627 and Adrianna 1629.
BESIEGED, is Fortune’s story where she marries Kieran Devers in 1631 and they go off to the new world to avoid religious prosecution. (Fortune is revisited again in Vixens) They have Aine Mary Devers born around March 25 1633? Fortune returns to England in 1670, after her husbands death.
INTRIGUED, is Autumn Rose Leslie’s story, she is the 9th child? 8th living of the marriage between Jasmine and James Leslie Earl of Glenkirk. Autumn was born Oct 31, 1631. She marries first Jean Sebastian d”Oleron, Marquis D’Auriville (Aug 1621?) 9/30/1651. Madeline Marie Auriville was born Sept. 30 1653. Sebastian Dies, OCT 1653. She has an affair with the King Louie and has Marguerite Louise de La Bois 7/25/1657? She then has an affair with King Charles and has a son on 8/20/1661 Louis Charles Stuart who dies at birth, and marries 2nd GABRIEL BAINBRIDGE DUKE OF GARWOOD 12/1/1661 and has a set of twins Jamie & Simon born probably 1662. 5 kids mentioned in vixens.
Just Beyond Tomorrow is taking place almost the same time as Intrigued, for Patrick’s marriage is talked about in it. Patrick born in Wild Jasmine from the third marriage of Jasmine to James Leslie Earl of Glenkirk. He marries Flanna Brodie 1650, and has twins James & Angus Gordon Leslie born 8/19/1651 The have Diana 1652, Mair, Sorcha, Malcolm,Ian, Colin.
VIXENS, is where we find out what has happened with Fortune & her husband Kieran Devers since the left England for Maryland way back around 1634/1635.
Aine has become a nun. 2nd Child Shane has married (wife name not given) and has 3 kids. Cullen and Rory must be twins and also married with wives and kids. And Maeve is also married with kids. And the two youngest boys Jamie And Charlie.
Frances Born April 1, 1649/1650 the Youngest is coming to live with Jasmine, who I believe has been in more books than Skye was.
Now Jasmine was Velvets daughter with Akbar. We learned in Intrigue that Velvet has died. In Vixens it looks like Charles Frederick Stuart who lost his wife Bess in Intrigue has remarried to Barbara Carver from “Just Beyond Tomorrow” and they have a daughter Cynara Born June 3rd1652 and she marries Harry Summers 12/9/1669 and they have Little Lord Henry Summers.. Diana daughter of Patrick & Flanna (Duke of Glenkirk) 1667, she marries the Damien Duke of Roxley on Dec 31,1667
Francy has an affair with the king and gives birth to Lady Christina Margaret Mary Stuart on Nov 14 1667. Fancy marries Kit Tahern, marquis of Isham Dec 1, 1667.
