TSI Units / Mr. Hammons:
Past Board Meeting approved funds for College Board TSI testing units. Campuses may use the funds given by guidance and counseling to purchase TSI units.
TSI Dual Credit Data / Catherine Pena:
i3 data presented shows the demographic in i3 campuses are the target population for ECHS. The goal is for 90% of students to earn at least one college credit by the end of their Junior year. TSI prep encouraged based on TSI data, use campus data to focus on targeted interventions. Students in a year-long course will not be counted in the data until the spring semester. Currently, there are 713 students enrolled in AP/DC courses (Hanna, Rivera, Pace) and 40% of the class of 2017 are enrolled. Final outcomes of the grant will include BISD, PSJA and Denver ISD. The final snapshot is at the end of the 11th grade year, no exact date is given.

Spanish: 9
Speech: 20
Government: 11
Sociology did not make.
TSC (course cap, webmail, 2016 reviews) / Capsize for courses presented and will be implemented in Higher Ed crosswalk. Request for BISD to unblock the TSC webmail for student Access. Compliments given for smooth process in spring packet review. No request for economics made despite TSC having a full time employee. November 13th by noon is deadline to drop semester courses with a W. Dean Crouse working on World Literature course to match it with BISD course Forms of Literature.
TAMUK update / Spring course requests and packets were submitted 100% on time. Responses given to Rivera ECHS regarding TAMUK applications for teachers requesting to instruct courses in the spring. Rivera ECHS mentions the history teacher, Ms. Alonso, has not received an email with instructions to apply. Returning students do not need to reapply for the spring semester. TAMUK would like to host students on their campus and will email Advanced Academics with specific information.
UTRGV update / Apply Texas drives will take place at Hanna, Rivera and Pace the week of November 30th. There is no need for returning students to reapply for the spring semester. Courses offered this semester are Art and Sociology with an effort to exand courses in the fall 2016. The deadline to submit course rosters is November 18th to Advanced Academics. The student orientation and parent meeting date is December 9th at 6:00pm at Salon Cassia room 2.402. This is a mandatory meeting and the flyer is included in the folder.
UT Austin / Mr. Hammons: No MOU yet, but the five courses offfered are:
Rhetoric of American Identity
Discover Pre-Calculus
Data, Modeling and Inference
Earth, Wind, and Fire (Geoscience)
Thriving In Our Digital World (Computer Science)
No masters degree required of teachers, 2 week summer course required, courses are year-long, no TSI requirements, no textbook cost. District will pay for travel, housing, and meals for 2 weeks.
Joel Vargas Visit and Instructional Updates / Catherine Pena:
Instructional coaching was mentioned by every administrator as an área of need. Joel Vargas mentioned BISD has made huge gains in three years. Educate Texas has hired a PD specialist, Dr. Patty Casada.
