Setup Requirements

Description–A member of the BirchStreet Training Team will be visiting your property the week of go-live. This document is intended for those who will be working with the BirchStreet Training Team to coordinate training. The purpose is to provide tips on getting the necessary training facilities setup and to be ready to present a classroom training session at the hotel.

PREPARATION – The following steps should be taken in advance:

  1. Request the following from the appropriate departments
  2. Conference/Training Room appropriate for largest class size
  3. Internet Access (Password to guest network if needed)
  4. Cat5 Cable(wireless not recommendedto ensure solid connection)
  5. Power Strip for laptop, phone, and additional trainer hardware
  6. Podium or table for laptop and training materials
  7. Wireless Mic if room size requires voice amplification
  8. Projector (large enough to display easily to the back of the class)
  9. Support from the IT Staff on the days of training for hardware and webinar connection
  10. If requesting hands-on training for lab-style training (training days 3 & 4), ensure a computer is set up for each student (or 2 students per computer)
  11. Ensure the computer has a login ID and password available or that the student can use their own information
  12. Ensure BirchStreet is set up as a short cut on the desktop
  13. Ensure pop-ups are unblocked and any authorized trusted site settings for punchouts have been made appropriately
  14. If additional supporting task force staff will be present who require connections for their own computers, request for the back of the room:
  15. Table for staff
  16. Additional internet connections
  17. Power Strip for phones, laptops, etc
  18. Water/Coffee/Snacks Service
  19. Printout of Training Materials

DAY OF TRAINING – The following steps can be taken to prepare for the trainingand to help facilitate classroom discussion/participation during the training:

  1. 60-30 Minutes Prior to Start of Training
  2. Ensure Laptop or PC is turned on and connected to Internet and Projector (Screen Resolution should be set to 1024x768 or best for projector)
  3. Confirm logging in to BirchStreet works
  4. If performing hands-on training, confirm all computers are turned on and can be logged in to if possible
  1. 15 Minutes Prior to Start of Training
  2. Load Introductory PowerPoint presentation
  3. If performing hands-on training, get students logged in to the computer AND to BirchStreet with the demo login ID provided ahead of class time (all students will use the same login ID for BirchStreet per class). This should be done as each student arrives in class to ensure there is no delay in getting started.
