Dr. HU Jiang (China)

Deputy Director of the Shanghai Museum

Deputy Director of the Digitization Committee of Chinese Museum Association

Born in May, 1962, Dr. HU Jiang is the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Museum. He is also the deputy director of the Digitization Committee and the Architectural Space and New Technology Committee of Chinese Museum Association, as well as the deputy secretary-general of the Information Committee of Chinese Society of Cultural Heritage.

Since 1999, he participated in planning and building Shanghai Museum’s Comprehensive Collection Image Database and Comprehensive 3D Database (including the National Cultural Heritage Database project and Standardization and Promotional Project for Cultural Heritage Image Capturing in China); the construction and operation of Shanghai Museum’s multimedia information project, and cultural heritage museums’ comprehensive video database.

From 2006 to 2010, he was in charge of the Construction and Exhibition Design and Planning for the Urban Footprints Pavilion and the World’s Fair Museum of EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

He participated in bidding for the ICOM 2010 in Shanghai and was in charge of the Organization and Operation of this International Conference.

He is one of the executive board members of AVICOM from 2013 to 2016.

INTENTION NOTE

“Once again I would like to run for the board member of the AVICOM Committee for a congruity of the cause and content between the AVICOM and my research fields and profession. Now I serve as the deputy director of the Digitization Committee of Chinese Museum Association and the legal representative of Shanghai New Discipline Society. My rich experience and accomplishment related to information technologies give me the confidence in holding the post of AVICOM board member for a second term.

If I can receive a renewed mandate, I would like to join hands with colleagues in China and abroad, to provide museum professionals with the most up-to-date information of audiovisual and multimedia technologies, as well as related training and promotion. I would like to encourage Chinese museums to increase their budget in this aspect, organize studies and research in copyrights as well as legal and financial issues related to Chinese museums’ multimedia productions and public screening; carry out exchange between Chinese and foreign museums in terms of the development of audiovisual and multimedia database; draw public attention to audiovisual science and technologies and their application in museums. I will devoted to bringing the new digital technologies to the display system as well as exhibitions and services in the construction of Shanghai Museum’s new brunch in Pudong New Area till 2020. I will promote the influence of museum website by combing a variety of media including television, mobile phone, etc. Meanwhile, I will furnish the AVICOM Committee with more services related to human resources, finance and awards.

On the other hand, holding the post of AVICOM board member for a second term would also be a great opportunity for me to learn from the other AVICOM members, and to contribute to the future of the committee as a member from China.”
