End Keystage Target Setting

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEACHERS

SIMS Assessment Manager via Vale Learning portal or iPsum

July 2016

Introduction

These instructions are to guide you through the process of entering data into SIMS Assessment Manager via the Vale Learning Portal or iPsum to record your end of key stage targets

The Target Grades for Foundation Phase are:-

Grade / Description
A / Above Outcome 6
6 / Outcome 6
5 / Outcome 5
4 / Outcome 4
3 / Outcome 3
2 / Outcome 2
1 / Outcome 1
G / Gold
S / Silver
Z / Bronze
W / Working Towards Bronze

The Target Grades for Key Stage 2 are:-

Grade / Description
E / Exceeding
8 / Level 8
7 / Level 7
6 / Level 6
5 / Level 5
4 / Level 4
3 / Level 3
2 / Level 2
1 / Level 1
W / Working Towards Level 1
  1. Entering End Key Stage Targets
  • Log into iPsum or SLG in the usual way and navigate through the Classroom Staff area through to My Class.
  • Click the Marksheet Entry option.

  • Type CSC in the Template Name field and click Search.
  • Click on the relevant marksheet to open.

  • Click into the firstcolumn for the first child:

EITHER

  • Type the outcome directly into the cell;
  • Press the Down cursor key (on the keyboard) to move to the next child;
  • repeat until results for that column have been entered for all pupils.

OR

  • Click the down arrow within the first pupil’s result cell
  • Choose Select Grade
  • Click on the result the cursor immediately moves to the next pupil record so you can just type the results. NB if a pupil does not have a result click skip to move to the next pupil’s record
  • Move to the next column and repeat until all results for that column have been entered.

Note
Literacy, Language and Communication
In the Foundation Phase Marksheets, the Column Headed CSC LLC is to be used by English Medium Schools and the column headed CSC LLCW is to be used by Welsh Medium Schools

To save results:

  • Click the Save button on the marksheet (above the Student Name column) frequently so as to avoid unnecessary data loss.

To delete an incorrect result:

  • Click within the cell and click the drop down arrow displayed.

  • Select the option to View/Edit Result History.
  • Click the red cross alongside the result to be deleted.
  • Click the black cross to close result history and return to the marksheet.
  • Click the Save button.

To save results:

  • Click the Save button on the marksheet (above the Student Name column) frequently so as to avoid unnecessary data loss.
