Bid Comments: / The City of Detroit seeks professional architectural and planning services to bring a concept plan for a 7-acre site located in Midtown Detroit, known as the Wigle Recreation Site located at 901 Selden, to a detailed schematic plan.
The City of Detroit seeks proposals from qualified professional architecture, planning and urban design teams who have submitted qualifications through RFQ-Q #50011 for the creation of a schematic level design for the Wigle Site.
The Wigle Recreation Site has been transferred from the Recreation Department to the Planning & Development Department in order for the site to be offered for sale via an RFP in January 2016. The purpose of the schematic level design plan is to bring the conceptual vision for the site to a schematic level, providing an analysis of the preferred site capacity (building heights, unit counts, parking spaces, open space), formalizing the urban design and open space programming, as well as, providing graphic continuity to all of the concept renderings developed for this site. These schematic designs will be included with Wigle Site RFP for the land sale when it is released in January.
Recognizing that the site is a sizable parcel located in the growing Midtown District of Detroit, the City of Detroit feels this site provides a tremendous opportunity to guide the vision of the development of this site. To that end, the City of Detroit will be conducting an interdepartmental, in-house design exercise to develop a workable concept alternatives. The architectural team selected through this RFP process will take the preferred concept alternative to a fully vetted schematic level of design.
