SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION - ESSAY

2015-2016

The Berkmar High School PTSA is pleased to announce that it will present ascholarship, up to $1000, to a graduating senior. This senior will be chosen by the PTSA Scholarship Committee. The award check will be made out to the winning student and the post-secondary institution. The money is to be used for the student’s educational expenses as he or she pursues post-secondary educational opportunities upon graduation from Berkmar High School.

Requirements: Applicant must:

Be a graduating senior of BerkmarHigh School and continuing with post-secondary education.

Be a paid member of the 2015-2016 Berkmar High School PTSA. (If needed, a Membership Form is attached.)

Complete the attached Application Form.

Submit a Letter of Recommendation from one of your high school teachers.

Submit a second Letter of Recommendation from a non-relative outside the school system. (For example: a community member, employer, neighbor, clergy member, etc.)

Complete a 500-700 word essay, typed and double-spaced. The topic of the essay is listed on the attached sheet.

  1. Be sure your name is on each item submitted. (For essay judging, names will

be blanked out.)

  1. In a 9" x 12" envelope, enclose all required items:
  • Completed Application Form
  • Letter of Recommendation from school
  • Letter of Recommendation from outside the school system
  • Essay
  • PTSA Membership Form and $8 Contribution if you are not already a paid member of PTSA

3. Place the packet in the PTSA Scholarship Collection Box in the Counselors Office.
