Beowulf Facebook Project

Create a Facebook page for one of the following 4 characters in Beowulf: Beowulf, Hrothgar, Grendel, or Grendel’s mother. This page may take one of two forms. You may create an online page using myfakewall.com (you will need to register) or you may make a poster of a Facebook page of at least size 16”x22”. To submit your project, bring your poster to class on Monday, September 12, 2011 or send me the link to your fake Facebook page at no later than the beginning of your class period on Monday, September 12, 2011. If you are worried about my receipt of your project via email, please print out a hardcopy and bring it to me on Monday.

Requirements:

  • There must be an accurate profile picture for your character, you may add other photos as you see fit.
  • There must be at least 11 post elements, which should appear in reverse chronological order (as on a Facebook page) and be cited with line numbers from the work. You may infer wall posts as inspired by the work, please provide the line number for the inspiration for your inference. These elements may include comments on posts (though there must be at least 8 original posts)
  • You must list at least 3 “friends” (though these may be categorized as you see fit) for your character of choice.

Be advised:

  • On the rubric, the posts, profile picture, and choice of friends will count as “elements.”
  • You will be held responsible for correct grammar (though some leeway will be given for the informality of the Facebook medium).
  • Citations are an absolute necessity. Do not neglect them.
  • The project will be weighted as a test grade.
