Juggling a family life and a business under the same roof is hard – but not impossible! My husband and I do it every day. A lot of people think you can do what you want when you want when you own your own business. Business owners truly see that you actually work harder and more hours because you have more to lose, and you have to consistently stay active.

What my husband and I do is actually not really heard of here in Montrose, Colorado. We have an online lingerie company: Montrose is a farming community and lingerie is not really something that does great around here, ya know? It seems everybody knows everybody in a small town and when you shop for intimate apparel, you want your privacy and you don’t want so-and-so talking to your neighbor about what you wear for your husband! So we created a website that you can take your time looking at what you want to order for your anniversary or just to spark up some fun during the week at the comfort of your own home.

Being married for a long time, you lose that fire you had when you first dated. You lose that newness. What makes Candyland Lingerie unique is we wanted to create something with a classy, but frisky twist. We didn’t want people to feel uncomfortable looking at buying something for next week’s getaway with the kids in the next room.

Of course, lingerie did really well for us! So when I heard a lot of my friends were looking for cute dresses that would fall around or below the knee, I decided to bring a new line in. Our pin-up dresses! Whether it was a curve hugging dotted pencil dress or a flowing halter dress with cherries on it, I wanted that fun selection.

While trying to get a head start the Halloween rush and bringing costumes and hoods in and shipping out orders, we need to keep a healthy balance with our 2 little boys, too. We don’t drop them off at a school, day care, or a babysitter. We do everything! We will have help with family once in a while when my husband, Ben, needs to attend to clients for his computer business, BPetersonDesign.

We actually got on The Playboy Morning Show and had to leave the boys with their grandparents while we took a few days to attend the show live in California a couple Christmases ago. Since we didn’t want to leave the boys for too long, it was a fast trip up there and back. Once again, juggling family life with owning your own business. It really is a struggle but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
