Job Information:

Essex County Hospital Center, Institute for Mental Health Policy, Research and Treatment, is seeking to hire a mental health professional to work with an adult SMI population on an innovative new telepsychiatry program. Telepsychiatry uses state-of-the-art information technology (video conferencing, web seminars) to coordinate and improve patient care in the community. This is the first telepsychiatry program in the State of New Jersey and it is expected to grow to include medical intervention components and wellness/lifestyle components. It is anticipated to be a model program for the state.

The position is permanent full time, Monday-Friday, day shift

Responsibilities:

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Project Director as a member of a clinical team focused on promoting patients’ recovery and sustained reintegration in the community through telepsychiatry outreach. Responsibilities include:

Introduces the telepsychiatry program to newly discharged patients and their outpatient providers.

Visits patients and their case managers in the community to monitor the ways in which telepsychiatry is used as well as to monitor patient progress.

Collects clinical (psychiatric and medical) data on patients in the community as well as user satisfaction data regarding the utility of the telepsychiatry program.

Works with Project Director on healthcare provider and patient/family education projects that utilize the telepsychiatry program.

Qualifications:

BA or MS/MA in Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, or Social Work. Experience in behavioral health and/or serious mental illness preferred. Individuals with experience in data collection are strongly preferred. Experience with the software tools, Microsoft Access and Excel, are important, and experience with statistical software is a plus.
