1. CALL TO ORDER / ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM

The regular meeting of the Valley Home Joint School District Governing Board was called to order by Mrs. Springer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in the After School/ Portable Building located at 13231 Pioneer Avenue.

II. RECOGNITIONOFOUTGOING MEMBER / RECEPTION BREAK

Mr. Sphar was presented with a plaque by Mr. Price to commemorate his service to the

students, staff, and community of Valley Home Joint School District. A short reception

break was takenwith cookies and refreshments available.

III. ADMINISTRATIONOFOATHOFOFFICE / NEWBOARDMEMBERS

Mr. Price-Superintendent/Principal administered the oath of office to:

Mrs. Julie Haynes, and Mr. Christopher Hempleman. Both members were inducted to

serve a four year term, and effective January 1, 2018 their term will extend until

November-2022.

Mr. Price administered the oath of office to Mrs. Erin Wells to be inducted to serve a two

year term, and effective January 1, 2018 her term will be extended until November-2020.

All new board members and officers were seated and the meeting continued.

IV. ANNUALORGANIZATIONALMEETING

  1. Election of Board President – Mrs. Springer nominated Mr. Rice for the position

of Board President, seconded by Mrs. Haynes.

B. Election of Board Clerk – Mr. Hempleman nominated Mrs. Wells for the position

of Board Clerk, seconded by Mrs. Haynes.

C. Election of Trustee Representative of the Governing Board / County Committee

on School District Organization – Mr. Hempleman nominated Mrs. Wells for the

position of Trustee Representative of the Governing Board, seconded by Mrs.

Haynes.

D. Appointment of Authorized Agent(s) – Mr. Hempleman made a motion to appoint

Mr. Tom Price as the single signator and Mrs. Higgins and Mrs. Lovejoy as double

signators as Authorized Agents, seconded by Mrs. Haynes.

E. Establishment of Meeting Dates and Times – Mrs. Haynes made a motion to retain

the current day and time for Board Meetings, seconded by Mr. Hempleman.

Mrs. Haynes made a motion to approve the Agenda with the Amendment to Finance

/General Business #A., change the Fiscal Year from 2016/2017 to 2017/2018, seconded

by Mrs. Springer.

VI. PUBLICCOMMENTANDCOMMUNICATION

Mr. Sphar would like to see an additional part time employee hired to help with the

custodial duties for the school.

VII. STAFFANDMANAGEMENTREPORTS

Mr. Price reported on:

1. The greenhouse roof is now on and the structure is enclosed. PTC is purchasing tables

for each classroom grade.

2. Need to erect a fence behind the greenhouse to keep the sheep out. The Bianchi family is

willing to help with the cost.

3. Last soccer game will be this Friday-December 15. Valley Home against Knights

Ferry. Games will start at 11:30 a.m.

4. Last day before Winter Break is December 22 which is also a minimum day. Also marks

that we are officially ½ of the way through the school year!

5. The Annual After School Program Winter Pageant is the evening of the 22nd. Come

watch the students perform singing some wonderful songs, and acting out talent skits.

This is a great fun evening for the whole family.
