VACANCY: Secondary English Language Teacher(s) –No. 8 High School

VACANCY DESCRIPTION: Beijing Education Bureauis seeking candidates to work with high school students in the Beijing No. 8school building to enhance studentknowledge of the English language through a pre-determined high school english curriculum. Teachers will work with students preparing to study abroad. Beijing Education Bureau is seeking enthusiastic, (preferably) native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree, a teaching license from the US, UK, Canada or Australia with at least two years ofteaching experience to give students a unique experience and create excitement for learning English.

Beijing Education Bureau is seeking threelanguage teachers for the 2017-18 school year. Beijing Education Bureau will provide a comprehensive package for those seeking and successfully obtaining a position. This is a one-year contract position with the option of renewal for subsequent years upon successful performance evaluations. Enthusiastic teachers with at least two yearsof experience are encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Background in English and language instruction or experience teaching or working with secondary age students
  • Native or near native English speaker
  • Experience working with non-native English speakers
  • Flexibility and creativity, ability to work well with students
  • Ability to build relationships with students and families
  • Instructional knowledge and pedagogy for English instruction and techniques
  • Ability to deliver an English curriculum to secondary learners and engage students

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current valid teaching certificate and credentials in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada or Australia
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)/English Language Learner (ELL) certification, training or coursework
  • Experience teaching in a foreign country or with non-native English speakers
  • ESL/ELL program development and/or work with ESL/ELL students in a general education classroom setting
  • Culturally responsive teaching practice knowledge and experience
  • Experience and understanding with and/or teaching U.S. culture combined with language instruction or good working knowledge of U.S. culture and the ability to teach it to secondary students in an interesting, engaging way
  • Ability to follow pre-developed lesson plans and the ability to modify lessons as needed during instruction

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary –¥18,000 yuanper month and one whole year contract
  • Contract with Beijing Schools
  • Insurance commensurate with teachers in China
  • Chinese work visa (successful candidates must obtain a Chinese visa)
  • Free Apartment with basic furniture and lunch for free at school cafeteria
  • 10 days break for one whole year contract and Chinese National Holiday break
  • Reimburse the international round trip air ticket at the last month of the contract ¥10,000 yuan
  • Program orientation to introduce curriculum, program requirements and students’ language level
  • Local district support team to support teachers in their teaching and daily life
  • Course curriculum will be provided for this program and resources to support classroom instruction will also be provided

POSITION START DATE: Teachers should arrive in Beijing the fourth week of August, 2017
