Job purpose:
The Communications & Marketing Officer is responsible for providing support to the Communications, Marketing & Events team, with a particular focus on supporting the delivery of a strategic approach to promoting Business Disability Forum’s products and services to new markets and existing Members and Partners (membership).
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- To co-ordinate the dissemination and implementation of all email marketing campaigns and newsletters such as those relevant to the Disability Standard, publications, training and events and all Business Disability Forum products and services.
- To manage a number of e-marketing campaigns, this includes responsibility for production of these campaigns.
- To have responsibility for all content on the main website including the Technology Taskforce sectionworking with the Digital Communications Manager/ Consultant to make routine content changes. This includes main website copy changes, uploading resources to the Member hub and raising and tracking faults with our web developer.
- To maintain and export information from our contact database (Company Information System [CIS]) for external communications. This includes responsibility for managing the development of contact lists for the purposes of extending Business Disability Forum’s e-marketing reach.
- To manage the production and dissemination of all daily/weekly news updates and Business Disability Forum’s ‘Our Week’ calendar (with the Press Officer and Communications, Marketing & Events Assistant providing back-up).
- To maintain the communications calendar.
- To respond to general communications enquiries.
- To undertake additional administration and marketing/public relations tasks as required by the Communications,Marketing & Events team. This particularly relates to providing support to the Communications, Marketing & Events Manager on all aspects of public relations and marketing e.g. developing and disseminating tools and communications relevant to making for impactful Public Relations (PR)for all Business Disability Forum’sactivities.
- Support management of websites including search engine and content optimisation.
- Support of social media marketing campaigns (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).
- Ensuring brand consistency across all online channels.
Other:
- Ensure all Business Disability Forum communications are accessible to disabled people and inclusive of other minority groups.
- Be familiar with and, at all times, adhere to Business Disability Forum’s policies and procedures as compiled in the employee handbook.
- All employees are also expected to promote and comply with Business Disability Forum’s policies on equality and diversity with specific reference to disability both in the delivery of services and treatment of others.
- Any other duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility. Any changes will be made in consultation with the post holder.

Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of working on a number of events, projects or campaigns at the same time.(A & I.)
- Experience of working with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and a website Content Management System (CMS).(A & I.)
- Experience of working with a wide variety of people, at different levels from suppliers to CEOs.(A & I.)
- Experience of working in a busy office environment and as part of a team.(A & I.)
Desirable:
- Working as an assistant in a marketing role, ideally within a business membership organisation. (A & I.)
Skills
Essential:
- Able to identify and respond quickly to problems and challenges through the publication and campaign building/dissemination process. (A & I.)
- Intermediate to advanced Campaign Master, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, database packages, email and the internet.(A, I & T.)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all communications.(A, I & T.)

General terms and conditions of employment
Based:
- Business Disability Forum, Nutmeg House, 60 Gainsford Street, London SE1 2NY.
Hours:
- 9am to 5pm (Mon to Fri) with occasional out of hours work; 35 hours per week although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options with suitable candidates.
Length of contract:
- Permanent.
Salary:
- £25,000 to £26,000 dependant on relevant skills and experience; some flexibility may be possible for an exceptional candidate.
Probationary period:
- Threemonths.
Annual leave:
- 25 days per annum plus statutory and bank holidays (33 days in total).
After 3 months:
