JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Team Leader

REPORTS TO:Executive Director

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Team Leader, under contract, carries out 3 key roles:

  1. aspart of a team of two Team Leaders each supporting regional mentors in their designated area - Greater Vancouver/Fraser Valley/Vancouver Island or Interior/North.
  1. aspart of the BC CRN Management Team.
  1. as resource and program developers to support the work of regional mentors and CRNs.

REGIONAL MENTOR MANAGEMENT:

  • Participate, with the Executive Director in the contracting of regional mentors and contract management.
  • Orient, advise and support the regional mentors in their work with CRNs.
  • ensuring that the mentors have all the materials they need to work effectively
  • engaging in regular contact with them by phone as well as e-mail.
  • ensuring development of the annual work plan with each mentor that reflects relevant strategic goals.
  • building relationships between regional mentors within each team and as a provincial team.
  • organizing and supporting learning opportunities for the team.
  • coaching to enhance performance.
  • assisting in forming and conveying key messages from the BC CRN.
  • Act as a resource to CRNs when the regional mentor is unavailable or other supports are needed.

MANAGEMENT TEAM:

  • Participate in all mentor and provincial teleconferences (provincial learning event, community of practice, etc.) contributing to agendas and being prepared to lead discussions, etc.
  • Prepare monthly summary report for the executive director to ensure that she is kept informed of what is happening in the regions; share this report with colleagues on management team.
  • Act as a conduit of information and feedback from the regional mentors to the management team.
  • Bring the lens of a team leader and the regional mentors to the annual strategic plan development.
  • As Team Leaders, bring forward recommendations to support the work of the regional mentors, the CRNs and the BC CRN to the Executive Director and other colleagues on the management team.
  • Collaborate with management team members on matters requiring discussion, decision making and implementation at the management level.
  • Act as a conduit of information and feedback from the management team to the regional mentors and CRNs as required.

PROGRAM AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT:

  • From time to time identifying , planning and creating/revising regional mentor and CRN programs and resources needed to support and further the mission of the BC CRN.

Other duties as required which relateto the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • Post-secondary degree(s) in a related or transferable field.
  • Experience in community development and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of the region of the province which they are responsible for supporting.
  • Proven ability to develop skills and to coach people.
  • Proven ability to build a team and contribute to a team.
  • Proven administrative and supervisory skills
  • Experience in fields allied to adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect and vulnerable adult populations.
  • Demonstrated workshop design and facilitation competence.
  • Demonstrated abilities in project planning, resource and program development.
  • Experience in contributing effectively at a management level.

  • Understanding of the dynamics of adult abuse, domestic violence and systemic responses
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer competency and MSOffice proficiency.
  • Proficiency with audio visual equipment.
  • Social media skills are an asset.

Other requirements

  • Afunctional home office.
  • Ability to teleconference and communicate electronically.
  • Availability to travel; valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

TERMS

  1. This is an annual contract position of 50 hours per month renewable upon successful contract performance review and continuing funding.
  2. The probationary term for new Team Leaders is 6 months. This period can be extended or reduced depending on performance and “fit”.
