Battleship with Excel

Object: / To sink all7 of your opponent’s battleships.
Number of Players: / 2
Equipment: / Two computers with monitors turned away from each other.
Game Setup: / Open Excel and start a blank workbook. Select all cells by clicking on top left of table. While these cells are selected, make the following changes to the cells:
  1. Change the width of columns to 6.00 (47 Pixels).
  2. Change the font size and cell height to 30 (40 Pixels).
  3. Change the alignment of the cells to CenterandMiddle.
  4. Select cellsA1 through J10 (these cells will be your game board)
  5. Put AllBordersaround the range of cells
  6. Fill Color in the range of cells.
  7. Right click on Sheet 3 tad and Delete sheet.
  8. Right click on Sheet 1 tab on the bottom left tab and rename it to My Board.
  9. Click on Sheet 2 tab and repeat steps 1 through 5.
  10. Right click on Sheet 2 tab on the bottom left tab and rename it to My Enemy.
Place the following ships on My Board by selecting the appropriate number of cells and filling the cells in with a color:
  • Aircraft Carrier – 1ship with 5cells (Orange)
  • Battleship - 1 ship with 4 cells (Yellow)
  • Cruiser - 1 ship with 3 cells (Green)
  • Destroyer - 2 shipswith 2 cells (Brown)
  • Submarine – 2 ships with 1 cell (Purple)
Ships may be placed horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Ships MAY NOT overlap.
Save the file as “BATTLESHIP”.
To see both sheets at the same time; click on View tab, then in the Window group clickNew Window, then clickArrange All. A small window will appear, then select Vertical. You should now see twosheets side by side on the screen. Select My Boardsheet on left side and My Enemysheet on the right.
Game Rules: / Players take turns calling out shots (example: C10). If your opponent calls a cell address where you have placed a ship you must say HIT and place an X in the cell address of My Board. If your opponent calls a cell where you do not have a ship, say MISS.
When you call out a cell address you place an X on My Enemy board, when you hit a ship and an O when you miss. You can call any cell address between A1 and J10.
If the last cell of a ship is hit you must say HIT AND SUNK.
(You may want to change the color of the cells where you have places Xs once you have sunk one of your opponent’s ships.
Each player gets one turn only.
The first player to sink all of their opponent’s battleships wins the game.
End of the Game: / Each player should Save as BattleshipYourLastName and place the file on their website.
