Be Safe in the restrooms:

  1. Help to keep the restrooms clean by using the trash cans to dispose of used paper towels and trash. Help keep the restrooms safe for everyone by keeping water off the floor. Don’t play in the water or splash others. If you accidentally get water on the floor, please use a towel to dry the area. (You may use another towel to pick up the wet towel, but please do not waste towels.)
  2. Wash your hands using soap and water before leaving the restroom. Germs and viruses are easily spread from your hands to your mouth or to other people or objects you touch. Using soap and water to wash your hands for 30 seconds is an excellent defense against illness. Do not waste soap.
  3. Maintain personal space. Do not push or shove anyone in the restroom. Do not try to look in, under, or over stalls.
  4. Boys using toilets instead of urinals to urinate should raise the toilet seat first. (use a small piece of toilet paper to keep your hand from touching the seat) Keep the seat dry for the next person.
  5. Girls should dispose of personal hygiene products in the proper receptacles. Never flush them down the toilet.
  6. If possible, avoid taking backpacks, books, etc. into the restroom.
  7. Don’t eat food, sit on the floor or “hang around” in the restrooms.
  8. Report any problems that you consider a safety issue!

Be Respectful when using the restrooms:

  1. Allow for privacy. If others are in the restroom, maintain space to give them privacy. Do not stand and “watch” others.
  2. Be respectful to all adults who may be monitoring student behavior. All staff members have the right to speak to you regarding behavior.
  3. Recognize that our custodial staff works hard to keep the restrooms clean for you. Please respect their efforts and avoid doing things to make their jobs more difficult. Don’t throw anything away in the toilets except paper towels.
  1. Keep in mind that paper towels, soap and toilet paper are not free. Our school’s budget pays for these products. Wasting them will use our supply more quickly. Please use two squirts of soap and two paper towels.

Be Responsible when using the restrooms:

  1. Flush the toilets (and urinals) after using them.
  2. Make certain you turn off the water when you are finished at the sink.
  3. Report any problems to an adult (if the faucet will not turn off, if the toilet is continuously flushing or will not flush, if there is any type of damage).
  4. Use restrooms at assigned times. When leaving class to use the restroom, make certain you have your teacher’s permission and a pass.
  5. Use your time wisely. You are missing instructional time, and you are responsible for the lesson being taught in class. Return to class quickly. Also, others may be waiting for you to return for their opportunity to use the restroom. Return to class quickly.
  6. Help the custodian keep the bathrooms clean for everyone.
