Job Description:

Sr. Buyer:
Non-supervisory position in the Materials Division. Primary responsibilities of this position is for the acquisition and/or administration of complex, high-dollar / high volume supplies and services, and/or responsible for inventory management of multiple commodities, along with responsible for complex bid development, cost / price analysis, EAC management, and/or Program Management i/a/w BIW Acquisition Policies and Procedures.
Buyer II:
Non-supervisory position in the Materials Division. The primary responsibilities of this position is to conduct all aspects of acquisition, administer subcontracts and/or perform related Inventory / Supply Analyst functions, Cost Analyst functions for various ship programs and capital projects.
Buyer I:
Intermediate level position in the Materials Division.
The primary responsibilities of this position is to support or procure supplies and services, administer subcontracts in support of various acquisition activities for Navy new construction, overhaul, technology transfer and capital projects and/or perform inventory / supply analyst functions / cost/price analyst functions

Required Education/Training:

Buyer I:
• Practical and working knowledge of business practices and analytical skills that would normally be obtained through the receipt of a degree or work experience.
• Basic understanding of supply chain functions or related experience.
Buyer II:
Buyer II required experience plus:
• Minimum of 2 years of business or related experience.
• Understanding of supply chain functions
• Proven ability to and experience to manage complex acquisitions, and/or inventory management or related experience with minimal direct supervision.
• Proven ability to evaluate, negotiate and prepare price/cost analysis independently.
• Knowledge of inventory management practices.
Sr. Buyer:
Sr. Buyer required experience:
Minimum of 4 years of business or related experience
• Proven ability to lead complex projects
• Understanding of supply chain functions
• Proven ability to manage complex acquisitions, and/or inventory management or related experience with minimal direct supervision.
• Proven ability to evaluate, negotiate and prepare price/cost analysis independently
• Knowledge of inventory management practices

Experience (type and number of years):

Strong PC Skills, knowledge of SAP, and BMCS a plus, along with attention to details and strong organizational skills.
Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Understanding of FAR and DFAR Regulations a plus
