Job Title:Volunteer Co-ordinator
Responsible to:Area Fundraising Manager
Purpose of the Post:Co-ordinate the effective recruitment, induction and ongoing support and development of volunteers across Julian House projects
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment-Attracting and supporting new volunteers
-Co-ordinating production of volunteer opportunities through different sources to attract the best possible candidates including 3rd party online platforms
-Effectively co-ordinating and administering all volunteer application activities (i.e. references, DBS checks, where appropriate)
-Identifying new volunteer opportunities within the expanding organisation
-Presentations about volunteering opportunities at Julian House where necessary
Performance
-Co-ordinating, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on volunteer activity
-Establishing effective working relationships internally and with external agencies, sharing experiences, identifying good practice and building networks in order to maximise opportunities for the organisation
-Undertaking regular review and evaluation of the volunteer service, identifying ways to develop and improve this service
-Managing thevolunteer database and other resources
Induction
-Undertake induction of volunteers to suit the requirements of the service and the placement of volunteers
-Work alongside Julian House staff to find the best fit between volunteers’ availability, skills and interests and organisational needs
-Liaise with staff and volunteers to arrange project specific inductions
-Ensure that all volunteers are familiar and fully comply with Julian House policies and procedures.
Support
-Keeping in touch with volunteers through production of Volunteer Bulletin, update e-mails etc. and organising volunteer forums and thank-you events
-Following-up volunteers who have experienced potentially disturbing incidents whilst on duty and those who have ceased to volunteer
-Constructively addressing poor performance and breaches of the Volunteers’ Agreement
-Working alongside managers to enable efficient transition of volunteers and volunteer management processes associated with organisation expansion
-Identify relevant training needs of volunteers and ensure, where possible, they are met
Policy
-Develop and ensure the implementation of volunteer policies and procedures
Service Users
-Work closely with the Client Involvement Co-ordinator to ensuring opportunities to support current and former Service Users in volunteering / work experience are maximised within the organisation
-
General
-Establish effective working relationships internally and with external agencies maximising opportunities for the organisation. Actively contribute to the identification of new business development opportunities
-Work within the organisation’s policies and procedures, and in particular work in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy
Carry out, within reason, any other duties necessary to achieve the smooth running of the organisation and undertake other organisational duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a wide variety of different individuals or groups of individuals / Essential

Good IT skills including MS Office especially Excel
Experience
Volunteer or staff supervision, recruitment or management experience. / Essential

Experience of working in the voluntaryor public sectors / Desirable
