Guidelines

OCAD University (“OCAD U”) and Barometer Capital Management Inc. (“Barometer”) are pleased to announce a juried competition for the design of a 2013 holiday card for Barometer. The competition is open to 4th year Art and Design students and recent graduates and leading to three purchase prizes. The winning artwork/design will be featured in a holiday card that will be circulated to wider array of Barometer’s corporate and business clients. Moreover, three art works will be acquired as a part of Barometer’s contemporary art collection through three purchase prizes including a winning image, the runner up and the third place.
The competition is designed to celebrate creativity and affirmation of life looking toward new forms of representation that illuminate the spirit of holiday season. The artists are encouraged to submit work that Artists are invited to submit up to three images of their recent work in digital form. The minimum size of the actual work should be 5”x7” and maximum size would be 24x36 inches. This juried competition is open to paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, digital collages, etc Submission packages must include:
• a submission form (please pick up at the Faculty of Art Office);
• up to three high-resolution JPEG images (300 dpi) burned on a CD/DVD with an image list (including artist’s name, title, date, medium, dimensions and estimated value);
• a short biography (100 words maximum);
• description of art work
All submissions will be reviewed by jury in consideration of the following criteria: originality and quality of work, technical/conceptual inventiveness, appropriateness to the context of competition, photogenic capacity. The winning image/art work will be featured on a holiday card (front) including the artist information and the title of the work on the back.

Prizes
$2,000 for the winning card design
$1,000 for the runner up design
$1,000 for the third place design
