Talking Points

BankingOnMyCareer.com Overview

We know that people are much more likely to reach their career goals when they have a clear line-of-sight to their path forward. We also know that currently there is a mismatch, or skills gap, between employer needs and the skills of current job seekers.

JPMorgan Chase saw an opportunity to positively impact that gap and invested $250M to help markets, like New York City, build a demand-driven workforce system and prepare youth and adults for careers in high demand, high salary, middle-skill occupations

Through a partnership with CAEL (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning), PNY (Partnership for New York City), NYC WRKDEV (The NYC Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development), and NYCETC (New York City Employment and Training Coalition) Chase invested $580K to develop an interactive, visually-engaging, and information-packed career exploration resource for the financial services industry. An industry which has approximately 7,500 openings across NYC.

BankingOnMyCareer.com will improve awareness about industry accessibility and opportunity, communicate a clearer understanding of industry expectations upon entry, and clearly articulate the relationship between education and training programs with in-demand roles.

A Career Action Platform Aims to Do 3 Things:

The Partnership

Tackling the skills gap is a challenge owned by all of us. Accelerating the availability and effectiveness of a strong worker pipeline requires the type of collective impact inherent in this partnership. For that reason, the collaborative aligned with region-wide efforts, and leveraged the great work already underway in programs and initiatives such as: PNY, the NYC WRKDEV Career Pathways, and NYCETC’s ongoing initiatives. These ensure BankingOnMyCareer.com is relevant, accurate, effective, and readily available. NYCETC will maintain the website ongoing providing resources and expertise for content curation, hosting, promotion, and training activities.
