BalthasarOK in we go!
GasparJust a minute Balty you forgot something
BalthasarNo I haven’t I never forget anything that’s why I’m the boss!
GasparThis time you have.
BalthasarWhat can I possibly have forgotten. We’re here at the right place amazingly...we’re all robed up and ready, here to adore the new born king
MelchiorThat’s the point Balty...he’s a new born king...presents, we can't go in without presents.
BalthasarActually that’s a good point. Presents....we’ve no time to go back home, what have we got in our camel bags? Abe? Is there anything left?
AbeTypical humans, no forethought....Is there anything left? My aching back says there’s a lot left...mind you Balthasar's been putting on weight. stopped at MacDonalds too often for my good!
(Abe rummages in the sack and pulls out gold, frankincense and myrrh)
AbeThere you go Balty, that’s what’s left
BalthasarWhat’s this then? (looks in bag) Gold....I bagsy that!
MelchiorThat’s the money to get us home, we won’t be able to stay in any inns without the gold to pay.
BalthasarYou’re the one that said we needed presents
MelchiorOK ok we’ll give him the gold...what else is there
Balthasar (Looks again... pulls out candle) Frankincense...who brought this?
GasparThat would be me....I thought we might be passing a temple or two and you know that it’s cheaper to buy Frankincense at source. That Bethlehem Tesco was charging twice as much as the one at home!
BalthasarYou’d better give him that then
GasparBut what if we pass a temple?
BalthasarWhy have we travelled so far to get here?
GasparBecause you said we had to
BalthasarBecause this baby king has a star in the sky, he’s special, we’re here to worship as well as adore. He gets the Frankincense too!
GasparOK Ok, I’ll take it in
MelchiorWhat does that leave for me?
Abe goes into the bag again
MelchiorWhat on earth is this smelly stuff?
BalthasarActually that’s mine, it’s myrrh. You know how my wife likes to pack for me. She put it in to be prepared.
MelchiorPrepared for what?
Balthasaranything... you know... it’s a long journey and if anything happened to me, I might need to be....you know, buried and stuff..
MelchiorYour wife sent you with stuff in case you die?
Balthas___8arShe sent me out with clean underwear as well.
MelchiorI can’t give him this, what will his parents think?
BalthasarThey won’t know what to think but that’s ok. We don’t know what this baby
will need. Judging by what we saw at Herod's palace, a getaway camel would be useful. Give him the myrrh, at least it smells ok and you can’t go in empty handed.
GasparRight... in we go then
(they go into the stable and lay down the presents by Mary Joseph and Jesus )
AngelAnd they offered to him their gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. I offer to him my song and all of us can only give him what we can. As the carol says what can I give him poor as I am, If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb. If I were a wise man I would do my part but what I can, I give him, Give him my heart. Amen
