Class Expectations 2015-2016

Dear Students and Parents,

In order for us to have a successful year in the language classroom, the following rules must be reviewed and followed:

1- Always arrive to class on time and be in your seat when the bell rings.

2- Be prepared. Each student must come to class with a binder and pen daily.

Binders may be checked periodically.

3- Be organized. Each student must have a binder divided into sections.

They are:HAGAN AHORA/APUNTES, VOCABULARIO, DIALOGOS, TAREA/INFORMES

& EXÁMENES

4- Be courteous. Everyone is learning a new language and everyone will make

mistakes.

5- Be respectful to everyone and any adult in the room. Listen while others speak.

6- Do not eat or chew gum in class.

7- Raise your hand to speak; do not call out!

8- Remain seated during class unless otherwise told.

9- Students are responsible for all work missed due to absence/illness.

10- Enjoy, learn and love the language!!

Every quarter you will receive a grade on your report card for the Language class. This grade is determined by homework, class participation, quiz grades, test grades and alternative assessments.

Tests and Quizzes 50%

  • Students will be evaluated on a weekly basis on material studied. Students will be notified ahead of time as to when a quiz or test will be given.
  • All tests & quizzes must be signed by your parent or guardian.

Alternative Assessments 20%

This may include but not limited to speaking or writing assignments or projects.

Homework 15%

Homework will be given on a daily basis to reinforce work done in class. These assignments let you and I know whether or not you understand what we are studying. Every student begins each quarter with 100% homework average. If a student misses an assignment, points will be deducted from his/her average. Homework can be made up during extra help for partial credit.Parents will be contacted if students fail to do 3 homework assignments. If a child is absent from class because of a music lesson or meeting with a counselor and are in the building, he/she is responsible for homeworkthat was due and assigned. Please see your teacher for work.
