Job Summary

Manages daily activities of group of hourly associates. Responsible for successful adherence to the productivity program of the Warehouse. Manages and directs the storage, retrieval, processing, and accuracy of Product. Ensures employees execute in an efficient, accurate, timely and cost-effective manner. Acts as Manager on Duty, as needed, with responsibility for all resources, facility and operational issues.

Responsibilities

PRODUCTIVITY AND PERFORMANCE
  • Responsible for ensuring productivity tools are implemented, maintained and reflect current, accurate productivity standards.
  • Coordinates and monitors operations within department to ensure performance production rates are consistent with business plan, reducing irregularities and misdirects.
  • Regularly reviews and analyzes productivity reports to evaluate employee performance. Conducts employee observations and provides one-on-one feedback and hands on training to increase productivity and quality, in accordance with Branch standards.
  • Investigates errors in order to determine the cause and recommends/implements business solutions where needed.
  • Maintains building and equipment by ensuring preventative maintenance programs are in place and loss prevention/security/safety policies are followed.
  • Conducts safety and security audits; identifies and implements business solutions to address safety and security issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through process development and management.
PEOPLE
  • Participates in the hiring, onboarding and retention of hourly employees under their supervision.
  • Manages and directs daily activities of hourly employees, including resolving personnel issues, assigning work, and adjusting staffing as needed. Directs execution of tasks to ensure high standards of productivity, quality, accuracy, housekeeping, and safety.
  • Schedules hourly employees; determines staffing needs for optimum productivity. Manages staffing daily to match volume and ensure facility productivity targets are achieved.
  • Optimizes daily execution of standardized processes through continuous supervision, direction, training, productivity monitoring and evaluation of employees.
  • Provides daily coaching and feedback to hourly employees, both formal and informal. Conducts performance evaluations of hourly employees. Mentors employees; identifies potential candidates for promotion.
  • Recommends disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Conducts safety, productivity and quality training. Responsible for ensuring new employees receive proper lift equipment, safety and process training.
  • Responsible for identifying potential labor relations issues and resolving such issues with the Warehouse/Branchand HR Manager.
  • Responsible for maintaining high level of employee morale, including contributing to and ensuring the maintenance of an appropriate workplace environment. Designs and implements associate recognition programs.
  • Promotes safety in work processes by supporting Company and Branch safety programs. Manages safety compliance related issues. Administers appropriate discipline for failure to follow safety standards.
  • Participates in associate accident investigations to identify and correct root causes.
  • Performs additional duties relative to managing employees as needed.

Skill/Experience Requirements

  • Two (2) plus year’s supervisory experience.
  • Strong Leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to gather and interpret information, and develop, recommend and implement solutions.

Minimum Education level required to perform job duties

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Logistics preferred but not required.
