Quality Care for KidsVision and Hearing Screening

Quality Care for Kids is a medical group providing vision and hearing exams to children. Their goal is to reach children by “Helping Schools Help the Children” All children, attending our school for the first time, must have a vision and hearing test before January 1, 2014. We are happy that we can offer this service for your family. If your child needs glasses, a prescription will be written for them. We encourage all parents to have their children screened by these qualified professionals.

School Smiles Dental Screenings

Your child received a School Smiles dental screening form on the first day of school. School Smiles provides on-site dental healthcare services for children. Their staff, which consists of a licensed dentist, licensed dental hygienist and dental assistant will provide preventive and comprehensive dental services to our children. Their services include, but are not limited to dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, dental hygiene instructions, restorations, extractions and crowns. We want to provide these services to all students, whose parents wish to enroll them in the program.

If you would like for your child to participate in either of these programs, please return the necessary paperwork to your child’s teacher by Friday, August 23rd. If you have any questions, please call the Family Resource Center. (859)567-4900

Clothing Free for All

It’s “Clean Your Closet” Time

September 9-13 – Please bring clothes that you would like to donate to the FRC. The clothes should be in top-notch condition. Please make sure the clothes are clean with no stains or tears. We want to offer our kids nice clothes. Several local churches are helping us this year by collecting children’s clothes and helping to organize them.

Saturday, September 14, 10:00 -3:00 – Parents can come and pick out clothes for their children.

If weather permits the clothes will be on the basketball court behind the upper elementary school. If it rains you will find the clothes in the Family Resource Center.

GEMS

(Girls Empowered and Motivated to Succeed)

This year, the Family Resource Center is excited about a new after school program that is for 5th grade girls. The GEMS club

is a 5 week program for 5th grade girls that combine different aspects of the “whole girl”. Emphasis will be on health, fitness, and self-esteem.

The reason to begin this program is to help girls understand that everyone is special in their own way. We may not all look alike, be the same height or weight, but we are special. Through this program, we hope to boost the girl’s self- esteem, self- confidence, and give them the tools to be successful in school and life

Club Meetings in September
