Responded to questions about compliance with civil rights legislation including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Conducted many presentations on

disability-related topics. Resolved internal conflicts and allegations of discrimination orharassment. Investigated and wrote detailed University responses to charges filed against the university through

the Ohio Commission of Civil Rights / Equal EmploymentOpportunity Commission. Recognized by

theDivision Vice President for the quality of the responses. Co-chaired the Americans with

Disabilities Act Compliance Committee, composed ofrepresentatives of the executive office, administration, faculty, staff, students and outside professionals.

Developed career resources for student with disabilities and revised library literature to include

people-first= language. Conducted individual career counseling, evening drop-in= advising, and

various student groups. Coordinated collaborative meetings with representatives of KentState

including Financial Aid, Work Study, and Disability Services, and of the Ohio Bureaus of Vocational Rehabilitation, Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired, and Rehabilitation Engineers. Developed

and conducted training for colleagues on needs and resources for job-seekers with disabilities.

Trained clerical staff to handle possible social interaction issues. Customized training for diverse

groups including administrators, faculty, Civil Service and regional campus employees.

Promoted to Coordinator. Supervised student Job Coaches at work sites. Performed diverse administrative tasks to assure the effective implementation of grant training objectives. For example, taught supervisors how to evaluate student workers, developed plans for replication of successful activities and, interviewed applicants for new positions in Supported Employment and Transition Coordinator Training Projects.
