B.A.C. Burnsville TRAVELING BASEBALL 2015

(BTB)

What is Traveling Baseball?

·  Traveling Baseball is open to all players ages 9 through 15 years old.

·  Each age level competes in 16 league games and 4 tournaments.

·  A typical week consists of at least one practice and two league games. League games are played against other communities participating in the Metro Baseball League. Opponents include communities like Apple Valley, Lakeville, Bloomington and Eden Prairie. Teams typically play three local weekend tournaments and one out-of-town tournament. Ten-year-old tournaments are all local. Tournaments usually begin Friday evening and conclude on Sunday afternoon.

·  Teams may qualify for state tournaments (up to 3) which are held during the month of July.

·  All teams have completed play by the last weekend of July. There are free weekends during the season and no games are played over July 4th. (Except the Cooperstown Tournament)

·  Traveling Baseball parents will participate in our hosted tournaments by volunteering their time to make these events successful.

·  BTB promotes and tracks a fair play policy.

·  The total fee for 2015 Traveling Baseball is $390, which includes a non-refundable $40 tryout fee, a $30 BAC (increase from 2014 that BTB did not pass on to families) and an administrative fee. The deposit collected at the time of registration is equal to the total In-house fee plus the non-refundable tryout fee.

How Are Teams Selected and How Many Teams?

·  All teams are selected through a tryout process. The purpose of our tryouts is to place each player at the level they are most likely to succeed. Success equals fun and fun is why the kids play.

·  It is our goal to have three teams at all age levels. The final number of teams will depend on the number of players registering for Traveling Baseball at each age level.

9/10 year old policy:

·  BTB will allow 9 year olds to tryout at 10 year old age level.

·  9/10 year olds are eligible to make any 10 year old team including 10AAA level.

·  BTB will determine how many 9 year olds to make a team based on 9/10 year old registration numbers.

·  Any 9 year that makes a team, will be playing at the 10 year old level the next season.

When are Tryouts/Team Selections?

·  Tryouts will start on March 12th and will conclude March 17th. Minors players (age 10-12) will have hitting tryouts at Triple Play Sports in Prior Lake on Thursday, March 12th. There will be fielding, along with pitching/catching for minors/majors March 15th-16th at the Savage Dome. Majors players (age 13-15) will have hitting tryouts at The Cages on March 17th. Players that have made a BTB team will be posted on the Burnsville Traveling Baseball Website by March 19th

·  Tryout schedules will be handed out at the pre-tryout Parent Meeting on Wednesday, March 4th 2015.

·  All players not making a traveling team will be reassigned to an In-house team if they choose that option at the time of registration. No player is denied the opportunity to play baseball. Because of the timing of tryouts, In-House reassignments cannot be guaranteed neighborhood placement.

Family Commitment

·  Parents are expected to get their son/daughter to games and practices on time.

·  Families are expected to volunteer at the Burnsville Invitational Tournament (June 5-7th,) and the MBT State Tournament July 17-19th)

·  This works out to 2 or 3 shifts per family on two weekends per tournament.

What does my son/daughter need for tryouts?

·  Tennis shoes or rubber molded cleats, and athletic supporter with a protective cup for indoor fielding and scrimmage.

·  Tennis shoes only for hitting or turf cleets

·  Glove and bat

·  Batting helmet
