Notes:

1.  The Septenary Fund accepts applications from unaffiliated scholars, editors, and musicians. If you are affiliated to an academic institution, either as a student or member of staff, we are unable to consider your application. Unaffiliated can include musicians and scholars who work at an academic institution (or conservatoire) on a part-time basis, and are therefore unlikely to receive financial support to cover research costs. If you think this applies to you, please mention this on your application.

2.  The Fund is designed to support an individual in the production of a critical performance edition of music which is currently unavailable in this format. This could be because it is previously unedited, or only available in a scholarly critical edition unsuitable or impractical for performance (for example, in full score format without parts), or only available in an out-of-date performance format (for example, with inappropriate clefs or time signatures). We will consider projects which seek to update materials that are currently available, but will favour previously unedited works.

3.  Once completed, your project will be published by Septenary Editions. For all our editions, we take a 20% cut of sales, which covers productions costs (formatting, website maintenance, management of online catalogue), marketing and a contribution to the ongoing Septenary Fund. The remaining 80% of sales is paid to the editor on a quarterly basis.

4.  Please consider the format in which you would like your completed edition to appear. We publish both

downloadable PDFs and printed editions. For printed editions, we undertake the storage and distribution of your work, but actual printing costs must be met by the editor.

5.  When selecting a project, please consider if it is likely to represent commercial viability. This is not the main criterion on which we select projects, but it is a consideration.

6.  Once an award is granted, we will aim to publish your completed edition within eighteen months. When applying, please consider whether you would be able to work within such a timescale.

Please return this form by email to by Friday 26th May 2017. If you have any queries, we will be happy to assist you, and can be reached at this address.
