Awakening to God’s Eternal Purpose

Connecting the Recent Words to Eternal Purpose Teaching

Intro

  1. Pray for the angels Lightner, Rachael, and Ready to be released in our midst to shine revelation, give us the burden of the Lord, and to touch us in readiness. To impart an awakening.

We are in a critical season in the church in America and globally and we must not miss what God is saying and doing

  1. It is time for the man-child of Revelation 12 to arise
  2. It is time for a second Pentecost to begin
  3. We are called to be leaders in this movement, but for this to happen we must not just learn these things we must live them
  4. We must allow the HS to transform us by crushing every facet of the old wineskin and building a new one.
  5. So the time is crucial for us
  6. We can delay NO LONGER

The teaching theme for today

  1. I want God to awaken us to the wonder of His eternal purpose so that we will allow Him to have His way in us in this season and forever.
  2. To do this, I want to speak of a process I believe God uses to bring us into His eternal purpose.
  3. I also want to connect recent words to eternal purpose teaching
  4. The Lord has been speaking a lot of words to us over the last few weeks during our time of waiting on the Lord.
  5. We don’t want to just speak them and then forget what He is saying as these words are a critical component of this overall season we find ourselves in. it goes hand and glove with the eternal purpose teaching that Bryan is doing.
  6. So here is the approach I will use. I want to first share the words we have been speaking. Then focus on a process of coming into His eternal purpose and then finally emphasize the importance of awakening to God’s eternal purpose.

A summary of the words I have spoken as I remember them

  1. Eph 1, Eph 3, Col 1, and Phil 1—Paul’s prayers for eternal purpose
  2. Matt. 15:7-9
  3. The Greek word for Hypocrit
  4. NT:5273
  5. .a stage player, actor (Plut., Xen., al.). Metaph. (in LXX and NT), a pretender,

  7. NT:5273
  8. one who plays a part on the stage, a player, actor
  9. (from Liddell and Scott Abridged Greek Lexicon. PC Study Bible formatted electronic database Copyright © 2014 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)
  10. NT:3155
  11. in vain, idly, fruitlessly,
  12. (from Liddell and Scott Abridged Greek Lexicon. PC Study Bible formatted electronic database Copyright © 2014 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)
  13. Heb 1:8
  14. Love righteousness and hate lawlessness
  15. Not just do righteousness because lawlesslness is wrong but actually hate it and love righteousness
  1. Luke 5:36
  2. Can’t put a patch on our old garment
  3. Must let God strip off the old completely
  4. Then dress us with the new
  5. God is resisting certain things in us and in our midst
  6. His hand of resistance is upon us
  7. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble

Let’s next fit these words into a process of how an individual comes into God’s eternal purpose so as to experience it in fullness.

  1. Overview: God does not want us to just know His eternal purpose as a teaching but to come into the full realization of it and its impact on us now and throughout eternity.
  2. Ephesians – fullness
  3. Fullness is Christ
  4. Fullness of deity
  5. He fills all in all
  6. Until we attain the stature of the fullness of Christ
  7. The goal of God revealing His eternal purpose to us is that we can live in the fullness of Christ so as to inherit the fullness of all God desires for us now and eternally
  8. It is not just to know another biblical truth to put on a plaque on our mantle
  9. Remember that Ephesians is the book about eternal purpose so when Paul speaks in this book he is speaking almost totally about aspects of eternal purpose. Starting in Chapter 4, he shifts from the revelation of eternal purpose to walking in it. He wrote in Eph 5:5 that no impure or immoral or covetous or idolater has an inheritance in the kingdom. Therefore, it is not about just knowing a new truth. It is about a radical pursuit of the life that emerges from that truth.
  10. Cant put a patch on it

The Process

  1. Here are 6 words to define a process of how God will take eternal purpose as a truth and cause us to live it out.

1)Pursuit

2)Pattern

3)Confrontation

4)Choice

5)Crushing

6)Advancement

1)Pursuit

1)If we are ever to come into the realization of God’s eternal purpose for our life individually and to receive the full inheritance of it, we must develop a lifestyle of the radical pursuit of God’s eternal purpose for the rest of our lives.

2)We cannot put a patch on our old garment labeled eternal purpose. It wont accomplish anything. We must allow God to totally strip us of the old and re cloth us with the new.

3)But we wont do this unless we are radically pursuing His EP

4)A radical pursuit comes from 3 sources

  1. Not sure of the order. It will be different for all and repetitive in terms of a cycle.
  2. Revelation, Awakening, Desire for it = Radical pursuit

5)Revelation—let’s start here

6)With the goal as fullness of Christ in us so as to fully inherit God’s eternal purpose

7)Revelation is the first step

8)We can get great teaching but it accomplishes nothing in us without revelation coming to our inner man where we REALLY see it

9)This is why Paul wrote the prayers in Eph 1, Eph 3, Col 1 and Phil 1

10)We need to pray these prayers

11)This leads us to the second realization in our life

2)Awakening

1)When we get revelation, we awaken to the wonder of God’s eternal purpose

2)The purpose for this age

3)The eternal purpose for the ages

4)Awakening causes us to desire to live for God’s eternal purpose

  1. This is where most of us are: we need an awakening to this

3)Desire

1)When we truly awaken, we will desire Him and want Him more than anything else in our life

2)Like maiden in SOS—His love is better than wine

2)Pattern

  1. Then we learn that the cost is our life—Lordship of Christ over all of us

3)Lordship

1)Desire will lead to Lordship

2)Whatever the cost, I want it. Lord do in me what you have to do to bring it to reality

3)Go to Genesis 14 and then 15:1 “I am your exceedingly great reward” NKJV

4)The awakening should lead us to a progressive surrender to His Lordship over every thing of man or even thing of God—wanting Him

5)And all of this will lead to a radical pursuit of Eternal Purpose which we must have if we are to realize all God has for us in this season

  1. He learns that the pattern to flourish in God’s eternal purpose is Christ in you as the hope of glory—in fullness
  2. We learn that to experience this we must know Christ including in the fellowship of His sufferings
  3. Here we get our first word of the patch on the old garment. We cannot just sew eternal purpose onto our existing way of life—it must change everything in us and about us.
  4. God must and we must allow God to completely strip us of our old way and cloth us with Christ in fullness

3)Confrontation

  1. Eph 5:13 awake sleepers---the context of this is sin. The light of the Lord shines on our life exposing with the intent of rebuking our sin and self. So that we wake up and deal with things.
  2. Exposed by light. The greek word exposed is rebuked, Heb 12:5 uses reprove;
  3. This is one not the only but one of the ways God conforms us to His death
  4. He confronts us. We have given Him permission to take all when we awaken and then He comes periodically quietly at times. He wants something in our life or our church or our ministry.
  5. He wants to crush something that is part of our old wineskin. To let Him break it, lose the wine it contained so He can build a new wineskin—our heart, life, church, etc.
  6. Here we get Matt 15—there is something that we are doing, saying, speaking, that does not match who we are.
  7. We also get the word that God is resisting us in things—He does this to show us our need to choose His way, His pattern
  8. We also get love for righteousness and hating lawlessness—another aspect of hypocrisy
  9. There is an area of hypocrisy. And because of this there is an area where our worship (not speaking about music) is hypocritical
  10. He comes to expose an area of hypocrisy in our life or church

4)Choice

  1. When a confrontation comes, we then are faced with a choice.
  2. We can say no, we can ignore His voice, we can rebel against it etc
  3. Or we can say yes

5)Crushing

  1. If we say yes, He will crush the old wineskin
  2. And prepare us for a new wineskin
  3. Use Abram example of Gen 14 15

6)Advancement

  1. If we say yes, we will advance toward being conformed into His image
  2. If we say no, we will move toward being a whitewashed tomb

We are not going to be able to get away with putting the patch of eternal purpose teaching on our old garment—if we do that we might lose our call as a forerunner ministry. We must allow the HS to use this process to crush our old wineskin, to strip us naked of our old garments so as to have a new wineskin and to put on Christ as our new garment.

We are in serious times. Do not take it lightly. Do not just listen and learn. We must allow God to teach us, bring revelation and then conform us to His death so that He can advance us in the power of His resurrection.

Eph 1:15-23

15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

NASU

Eph 3:14-19

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

NASU

Phil 1:9-11

9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

NASU

Col 1:9-12

9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

NASU

Matt 15:7-9

7 "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:

8 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS,

BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.

9 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,

TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'"

NASU

Heb 1:8-9

8 But of the Son He says,

"YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER,

AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM.

9 "YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS;

THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU

WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS."

NASU

Luke 5:36-39

36 And He was also telling them a parable: "No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. 38 "But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 "And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'"

NASU

Also, God is resisting certain things in us and in our midst

Must live it and not just learn it
