AVOW Sponsored Walk 2014

Saturday20th July, 2014

Members and staff from AVOW (Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham) together with volunteers from Wrexham Carers, Breakthrough Foundation, ADHD North Wales, New Broughton Community Centre and Splash Community Trust in Wrexham braved all the stormy and wet weather in the area on the day by taking part in a sponsored walk from Trevor to Llangollen and return.

The AVOW group are raising funds for the MAD (Make a Difference) grant scheme that was launched in their Silver Jubilee year 2013 to raise funds to distribute to worthwhile community projects in Wrexham County Borough.

Other organisations joined the event to raise funds for their own causes.

Victoria Milner, AVOW Business Support Manager, said ‘Everyone on the walk is in good spirits despite the wet weather – we are all looking forward to a warm drink when we get to Llangollen’ before commencing the return stage to Trevor via Dinas Bran, the Panorama and Trevor Woods.’

The total amount raised for the sector on the day totally nearly £1000.

If anyone wishes to make a donation for the MAD fund to recognise the valiant efforts of the walkers, go to and click on the donate icon at the top of the page or send to AVOW, Ty Avow, 21 Egerton Street, Wrexham, LL11 1ND.

100% of the funds that are raised are distributed by AVOW for worthwhile local projects. In the past 12 months more than £11,000 has been handed out.

AVOW can help find volunteering opportunities for anyone who has time on their hands, or if you run an organisation there is a wide range of support available from AVOW via our website

AVOW is grateful to Morrisons Supermarket for donating bottled water for the walkers.
