Part A. Career Interest Inventory

Follow the directions below to complete the activity:

  1. Go to
  2. Scroll down and Click on Students
  3. Click on Student Tools and Resources (right of webpage)
  4. Scroll down and Click on Digital Library
  5. Click on Career Cruising (in first column on left)
  6. Assessments (tab along top)
  7. Click on Register under the Matchmaker & My Skills section
  8. Register and choose log in
  9. Log In: ______
  10. Password: ______
  11. Log Out and Log Back In
  12. Click on Assessments (tab along top)
  13. Click on Start Matchmaker
  14. Read Directions
  15. Matchmaker Label: AVID Spring 2014
  16. Start the assessment
  17. Each question will begin with “How would you like a career which includes…”
  18. Then give a phrase.
  19. Use the icons to respond.
  20. Take your time and read each question carefully.
  21. At the end of your session, print the list of careers suggested for you.
  22. Choose a one of the careers from the top 5 on your list (must be different than the career you researched in the Fall).
  23. Use the Careercruising website to gather more information about the career and complete the research report below. Report must be typed, and in paragraphs like an essay.
  24. Career Research Report- Write a 4-paragraph essay explaining the overall career and how the career will benefit others in your community. Why would you want to pursue this career? Why would you be successful at this career and what would you gain (personally and professionally) from this career?

AVID College Research Project

  1. Identify a college or university that can train you for the career you researched above.
  2. Create a College Poster or Brochure using the computer.
  3. The poster or brochure must include the following (Use the chart below to gather information as you research, you can just copy and paste in this document for now and format it later):
