This session will provide an overview of AUMA’s advocacy efforts relating to the carbon levy. Delegates will be asked:

This session will provide an overview of work underway to prepare for MGA changes, including proposed scope/delivery of training for mandatory elected official training, and other tools and templates. Delegates will be asked about an approach to the Elected Officials Training Model:

- Timing: how soon is this required after election?
- Content: how it aligns with local council training?
- Regional approach: which locations work best?
- Any other feedback?
- How valuable will the identified change management tools be?

This session will provide a summary of AUMA’s review and evaluation of the current MSI, the proposed vision, objective and principles for a new municipal funding model, and an overview of the proposed funding source.Delegates will be asked the following questions:
- What, if any, aspects of the proposed funding source are a concern and why?
- Should the replacement program have a portion of the funds dedicated for regional projects?
- Should the replacement program maintain the $120,000 base funding for each municipality? If not, is it eliminated or changed?
- How should rural and small communities be defined for the next federal infrastructure program that dedicates funding for rural areas?
