SUMMARY OF PARTICULAR AREAS OF INTEREST

Press coverage in February spanned the Beagle 2 official report, developments on campus- the Library and Villiers Hall plans, as well as articles on events – especially the Simon Singh, Adam Hart-Davis lectures, Arts Week and the postgraduate open day. A particular highlight was a Guardian feature on the applications of genetic fingerprinting and a Guardian report on the Library Development plan. A Criminology report on the effectiveness of CCTV also received widespread coverage, particularly on the web where it gained global coverage. David Mattingly research in Libya also received international coverage, including a feature in the Guardian.

There were a number of front page lead stories in the local press- including diabetes research and the Oadby Development plan.
