Attendees: Mrs. Louise Sheehan, Principal of St. Dorothy’s School

Mrs. Patricia McGee, Teacher Representative

Mrs. Donna McGann, President of H&S Board

Mrs. Marie Pat Romano, Vice President of H&S Board

Mrs. Eileen Mulholland, Treasurer of H&S Board

Mrs. Jennifer McAnally, Secretary of H&S Board

The board started the meeting with a prayer followed by Mrs. Sheehan giving any Principal Updates. Young Author Days is scheduled for November 18th. Mrs. Sheehan will get the board information about what needs to be done for the people coming in to present.

The meeting proceeded with Mrs. McGee and Teacher Requests. The teachers asked if H&S would be willing to purchase a Keurig for the staff. The board agreed and will purchase a Keurig for the teachers.

Scholastic News orders are normally purchased in the summer based on the number of children proposed to be in the class. The teachers should review their bill before sending to Home and School for purchase to be certain we are not overpaying.

Mrs. Mulholland reported on the inflow and outflow of cash in her Treasurer’s Report. Dot’s Dollars has a separate account from the Home & School account. We would like to move some funds around in order to access some of the money that is in the Dot’s Dollar acct. A suggestion was brought up to change the allocation from 50/50 (Tuition Reimbursement/School) to 75/25. This will hopefully encourage more parents to use the program. The idea is to start on October 1st, but communication will have to be drafted and all parties need to be notified.

Franklin Institute is confirmed for 12:45 on October 30th after the Halloween Parade. $100 deposit has been sent. The board will need to notify George how to set up the gym.

World’s Finest Chocolate was at Back to School night on Monday September 14th and will be there next Monday as well. 110 boxes of chocolate were taken. Home and School is guaranteed $1600.00, but if we sell 100 boxes Home and School will net $3000.00. All money is due on October 3rd.

St Dot’s code for Swiss Farms was emailed out via Home and School. This is an easy way for school parents that use the store to make money for the school. A suggestion was to add Giant and Target. Mrs. Sheehan believes these are already tied to our school. The board needs to create how to documents to communicate this to the school parents.

For Oktoberfest, the board identified the current inventory of spirit wear. We placed a new order and had a logo created for new Oktoberfest T-shirts.

Trunk or Treat Flyer needs to be reviewed and ready to go out by Friday September 25th. Mrs. McGann confirmed with Fr. Murphy that there is no wedding or rehearsal dinner that night. The board needs to book the gym.

Stocks pound cakes have no dates available in 2015. Mrs. Romano will follow up in early October to see if we can get two dates for 2016. One date close to Easter and one date close to Thanksgiving.

Catholic Schools Week Dates:

McDonald’s night- February 2nd (snow date of February 4th)

Marple Sports Arena- February 5th

Home and School will continue the quarterly newsletter. First newsletter will go out in November.

The board made sure the Oktoberfest booth for spirit wear will have coverage for all days of the fair. Mrs. Sheehan and Mrs. McGee will also be available to help out.

Tuesday: Eileen, Jenn, Mrs. Sheehan, and Mrs. McGee

Wednesday: Jenn, Marie Pat, Donna

Thursday: Donna, Marie Pat, Eileen

Mrs. McGann brought up the suggestion of switching vendors for hot lunch. We cannot switch vendors mid-year. We currently already have a contract with Nutritional Development Services. Mrs. Sheehan asked the board to investigate other programs. New program needs to have aid for those children that qualify.

Designer bag bingo dates that are being considered are March 19th, and April 2nd. Feb.20th is out due to Hoops for Hope weekend. The board will need to run these dates by Father Murphy.

First Grade class size is currently at 59 students. Parents are concerned by the class size. Mrs. Sheehan is aware, and working on getting help in the classrooms. If parents have questions or concerns, Mrs Sheehan is more than willing to meet and answer them.

Next meeting will be October 12th at 6:30.
